Freak side shows?

Post by iHaunt » Wed May 18, 2011 10:13 am

Side shows can be freaky I remember going to a fair and you pay $10.00 to see the World's only snake-head horse, World's smallest lady as midget/dwarf, lady with hairy body and beard, 7-foot tall lady, lizard man, sword swallowing lady, etc. How do you hire a side show for your event? Has anyone hired before? If so, how did it go? Some can be pretty freaky. :D

I never really got into that scene, iHaunt. By the way, I tried getting onto that link you e-mailed to me, and all I got was error message after error message.

Yep. That's strange. Some people really can't sign up on that link I sent you. :? But, that's okay. That's because of so many spammers in the past.

I remember there was a freak show at the Mississippi State Fair when I was a kid (1960s), and one year I did go into it. It made me feel bad about myself, though, paying to see people who were different. Just very disrespectful, I guess, even though the people themselves seemed to have a sense of humor about their situations. Anyway, I read decades ago already that the freak shows were becoming a thing of the past, because fewer people were being born with untreatable conditions. Also, I suppose those who might have felt that was their only option in the past now feel they can do something more productive with their lives. It's been years since I went to the kind of event that might have featured a freak show once upon a time. However, I would be surprised to see one nowadays.

Thanks for that info, Murf.... Freak shows are so great! Some people love it, some don't! I love to attend any freak shows all year round myself! :D

Two years ago, our theme was a kinda of Gypsie/Traveling Snake oil sales man/ Freak show thing. It was really hard to find props for it. We made our Freaks out of mannequins, but they didn't turn out too well. We did a 3 armed gypsy, a dog-boy. and the worlds smallest woman.
