REMNANTS OF LAST HALLOWEEN

Post by Pumpkin_Man » Tue Dec 15, 2009 7:29 pm

Hi Folks:

I was out and about yesterday and had to get my prescription filled at the local drug store, and while I was waiting, caught sight of 5 or 6 bags of Corn Candy, with Halloween jack o'lanterns on the packaging. I didn't buy any, because of my diet, but I sure was tempted.

How many of you see evidence of last Halloween still visable during this Christmas season? If you see any forgotten about decorations, or merchandise left in stores, or perhaps there might even be some "Trick or Treat" candy left over. If som tell us all about it.

Mike

I think you should make a 'snowman' out of them.

What a fun idea!

I carved my last pumpkin for Thanksgiving, made a turkey centerpiece of it. No more pumpkins now until next year, alas.

On the street I now live on there is a house with a graveyard still up and half buried in snow. I'll try to get a picture.
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

It doesn't seem to take long before the Halloween stuff is either wiped out of the stores, or simply disappears.
Back in late November/Early December a neighbor still had a fake plug in jack o' lantern out, but in recent weeks has finally changed to Christmas decor. I think the dollar general still had Halloween stuff last I knew, I'd have to double check. Nothing I'd be terribly interested in though, but you never know if they mark something down 90% off XP
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

NeverMore shame on you! Allowing that poor pumpkin to turn green. Beware that angry spirit! ;)

There is nothing left here, it's all Christmas decor. Except for one little surprise in someone's yard...a lonely Halloween scarecrow given the very back row seat in a yard-full of snowmen and Santas. He looked so lonely!

I was in the business district of my town, and I saw amid Chistmas trees, Santa Clauses and th like, one ceramic jack o'lantern. It sort of reminded me of the "Sesemie Street" sont "One of These Things is Not Like the Others."

My office faces a row of town homes and there are two that still have uncarved pumpkins on their stoops.

I want to go and liberate them but it's a new complex and probably has surveillance.

Not only that, but pumpkins are not exclusively for October or Halloween. Pumpkins are also very nice Fall and November decorations, and while it may be Winter, almost, some people like pumpkins. Pumpkin Pie is also a popular Christmas treat, and one year, I had an uncarved pumpkin that I had in the center of my diningroom table, and I left it there through most of the Advent season. I finaly threw it out when it started to get moldy. But it looked really nice and held up until about the 3rd Sunday of Advent.

At work yesterday, I was putting out Christmas stuff when I opened a box and there were pumpkin carving kits in it! I was so sad ad happy at the same time. :( :D

yesterday i bought 3 iron jack o lanterns at a flee market :( i hate that fall is over :(
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Yes me too. Fall is my favorite season and it goes away much too fast!

There are still a few trees around here that are clinging to their last fall leaves...*sigh*
