As most of you know, I've been suspended from my job for the last 11 days now, I've been sitting around my new apartment (the one I moved to so I could be closer to me store) waiting to hear news of the inVESSSStiGAAAtion.

It was about a conversation I'd had with another driver; a "Guy Talk" conversation that I didn't even start. There was joking and laughing and what-not.

I was reported, by this driver, for the off-color things I said during our little (and I thought, harmless) chat. What HE said, was apparently not brought up until my meeting with the polly-prissy-pants 'Human Recourses' lady. That was last Monday, and I was told that I would be contacted as soon as the inVESSStiGAAAtion had been complete.

Now, in the just over seven months that I've been with Safeway.com I've gotten 'Most Valuable Driver' (MVD) two quarters in a row; no less than five, 5!, letters of appreciation fro the CEO, himself and HUNDREDS of positive customer call ins. The Driver's that's been there the LONGEST (almost 6 years) has probably received a dozen, or so, admittedly. Having customers call in about you is NOT an easy task...... except, apparently when you're the best driver Safeway.com has EVER HAD!!!!

Well..... Like I said, I've been on pins and needles for eleven days now, and what do I receive in the mail today?
A DHL Express envelope and what do I find inside......

RE: Employment Status

Dear Matthew (Bastards couldn't even spell my name right)

Based on the conclusion of the company's recent investigation, including your admitted violation of company policy, this letter is to inform you that your employment with Safeway.com is terminated effective October 23, 2007.

Please find enclosed your final check.

[My Boss's Name] (the one who was supposed to have my back)
Operation's Manager

So, that's it! Loyalty and dedication and the best customer service the company has probably EVER seen means NOTHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!

Anyone have a job for a great guy whose loyalty is impeccable and puts the customer's satisfaction above everything else ..... oh and can have an occasional potty-mouth when prompted jokingly?

this just sucks :(

All of your friendships mean very much to me. That's how I can be so candid.
I so appreciate all of your support!

Know how Dick Van Dyke got his start?
He was fired from his old job as a dog walker.
One of my fave videos of ALL TIME is from Texas. The Rolling Stones had just peformed there, first American tour...and a news team went down and talked to the kids who had just seen them. One girl, not knowing WHAT to think of these guys, STARES into the camera and says;"They don't do ANYTHING our high school marching band can't do BETTER..."

Yes, you have been schlonged big time.
But you are funny and loyal and innovative and you will make out just fine. I'll bet a steak dinner you have friends already beating the bushes on your behalf and you have a few ideas of your own...

That truly does suck OEJ, especially since the exchange was between you and another employee, not even within customer earshot--plus the dude didn't even bother talking it over with you first before going to management. With your excellent customer service record, seems like they would have definitely wanted to keep you around or at the very least give you a couple of weeks notice so you could begin job searching elsewhere. Stranger's right, they weren't worthy.

OEJ, I thought county government could surpass the major suck factor when it comes to employee relations but...sheesh, Safeway (grocery store, right?) has taken the lead. That low-life excuse for a fellow driver should take a long hard look at himself. If someone offends me I'm a straight enough shooter to let them know and keep it betwixt ourselves unless it continues. Running to management was cowardly, mean, and utterly ridiculous! :x  You are intelligent, quick-witted, and an asset to your next employer. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise. I am wholeheartedly pulling for you and send you {{{hugs}}} and new-job-energy~~~~~~~~~~

OEJ,
That really sucks. I'm so sorry to hear that. We're here for you man. If there is anything I can do let me know. You know I am a Labor and Employment Attorney. I do defense work, so I'm not looking to take your case, LOL  But seriously, if you'd like to discuss your situation, I can let you know if you have any viable legal options. Free of charge of course. PM me if you're interested.
Aside from that, I can only say, look at this as an opportunity to get the hell out of there and find something better.

Thank you, people.... a MILLION times over. The Mrs. is being so wonderful and supportive but being able to talk and share, not just this, but almost anything with you guys, I see as a true blessing.

We're a different kind of family, here but, a family none the less and I so appreciate you guys!!!!

I know I'll get through this. It's just very VERY disheartenning to know how much I've done for this company and when it comes right down to it, it meant nothing.

I'm surely going to be giving all my most loyal customers a call about THIS one. MANY told me that they continued to shop with Safeway BECAUSE of me and my service.

And the way in which my "Boss" handled it all and "went to bat for me" when I guess I most needed it, was just down right Image

Thanks so much geekmidwinter. Sadly it hasn't let up yet, it's still hanging in there full tilt and driving me nuts! I'm still waiting for my babies procedure to go ahead with, which is really driving me nuts, he was suppose to go in Tuesday but their equipment still hadn't been returned, then they rebooked him for tomorrow, and when I called at 12:oo noon they were still waiting for it to arrive, so I have to call by 4:30pm if I haven't heard from them to see if the procedure is a go ahead. So please think positive thoughts for us that everything turns out and that he gets to have his procedure done. Plus hubby leaves early Friday and so I really hope it gets done before he leaves otherwise I have to drive him in myself for the procedure and with feeling so ill that would soooooo really suck, not including the emotional stress I'm going to be under cause I'm so worried about him. And lets not even think about the $700 bill for it, ug! Ok, lets think good thoughts

Holy <deleted>!!! Laurie Strode said it best....they AREN'T worthy of you, my boy. And this will just lead to bigger and better things for you, for sure. You are intelligent, witty, charming, friendly...any company would be lucky to have you. I think you should take HH up on his offer...talk this over with him, and see if they went through "proper channels". I'm sorry you've hit a bump in the road. We love you...

Safeway's loss is the world's gain.
Doesn't sound like they appreciate
good people very much. So let them
go rot somewhere.

OMG OEJ, How Tramatic this is, and after all you've been through with your move and all  What the hell is this world coming too! How disheartening OEJ, I'm so very sorry about all this. You are right though that Loyalty, Dedication and service means squat to many companies, they seem to see their employees as very expendable, times have really changed... This other driver it seems pulled a nasty cowardly act to get you out of the way for his own selfish purposes, but believe me, times may have changed but one thing that will always remain the same is " What comes around goes around" and I do believe in Karma, so have some comfort in knowing that those who did you wrong will get theirs only worse  And maybe there is a Silver lining to be found here soon, a hidden blessing, you may just find it revealing its self very soon. But I do still wish I lived closer so I could go chat with MS Polly Prissy Pants, just a nice "Friendly" little chat, honestly
OEJ, I'm pulling for you sweetie, things will get better soon, and I'm not just saying that, I feel it, you wait and see. If you need ANYTHING you pm me ok, you're such a sweetheart, and we all love you very much, please know you're not alone, we are here for you, you mean so much to us and to this forum, and your Loyalty, and dedication is very importnat so don't ever lose sight of that ok ~BIG HUGS FOR MY AHB~

Hey OEJ, I totally feel your pain. While the circumstances are different, I was also let go from my job recently, and it was a blessing in disguise in so many ways. You probably get sick of hearing it, but you're so much better than they deserve in an employee, you will find something infinitely better and that crappy boss will always know that he flaked out on you. There's an old saying about managers that comes to mind: You can't really kill them because they're already dead on the inside. You've got so much talent and vision on your own, and so much good mojo coming from this board, it's only a matter of time until you're back in the saddle. Yippee Kiy-yay.

Dutchess, I will be sending you some good mojo, too, for you and your baby, and your hubby on his way back out to work. Shazam!
