Speaking of Scooby; have you watched the new series yet? I like it.

I have that same kit! How long have they been growing?[/quote]
Thanks! I've been growing them for 6-8 weeks now. Still no pumpkins. I keep you posted. I love the pumpkin shaped pot. I can always reuse it somewhere!

Mine are only 3 weeks along...probably won't have any for Halloween, but Thanksgiving is almost as good.

Yikes! Sounds like the bad weather is going to affect not only jack-o-lantern pumpkins, but even the canned pumpkin for holiday cooking! I'll have to pick up a few cans, then. Alas, it's just too early to purchase any of the glorious white & orange beauties I've been seeing around here. They will rot for sure, six weeks out.

I never cared for the Scooby Do series either, becausd the 'haunting' was allways a fake. I did sort of like Daphnie. She looked pretty good for an animated cartoon, and I did actualy love the movie that was based on Scooby Do, but all in all, it wasn't one of my favs.

I'm too old to have caught Scooby-Doo in its original incarnation, but my kids found it and loved it in reruns. I even took my daughter to a stage play based on Scooby-Doo several years ago. I thought it was a nice cartoon for the younger set, but I have no idea how I might have reacted to it if I'd seen it in my childhood.

I love Scooby Doo, in my youngest daughters room I painted Shaggy, Scooby, Scrappy Doo & the Mystery machine!! It turned out too cute, it's a shame she out grew it & I had to paint over it.

Andy I thought that pumpkin shortage was from last year? The article is dated Nov 2009?

I suppose it's because the canned puree was harvested last season.

Well, I looked at my pumpkin again today, and every time I look at it it seems to double in size!
Maybe I'll end up with a really big pumpkin instead of a bunch of smaller ones.

...that is...if bugs or frost don't get to it before it finishes growing...

There is a little seasonal market that has set up in my town. The pumpkins they have are beautiful! Big and a real vibrant orange. I haven't checked prices, but we had a fantastic summer with lots of sunshine and plenty of rain. There shouldn't be a shortage.

I didnt think that we had torrential rain this year. We had a little higher then average in July, but August was actualy dry for this time of the year, as is September.
