I agree about hitting not being the way. A lot of my teachers and my parents both thought they could beat all my lessons into me. It was a very strong deterrent against wrong doing, but it's a LOUSY way to teach a student how to understand a mathematical concept, or memorize the Gettysburg Address. You can't beat knowledge into a kid. I never had kids, but if I did, I may have used corporal punishment as a very last resort in the case of something outlandish, but NEVER in the classroom or at the homework table.

You guy's are to funny, my daughters are fighting over who is going to keep me when I get older, lol!
I's funny, they don't want to take care of their dad and he does the most for them, but I do the fun stuff with them ,that may play a card in their decision.
I told both of them, I want a small house in their back yard so I have my own spot to get away. I can't believe they both agreed.
Here is to old age, I hope my husband I die close together, it would be heavenly!

When my time comes, I want to be in God's friendship, peacefully and IN MY SLEEP.

I see myself careening off of a cliff in a small sports car after one too many at the 19th Hole.
Funny you should say that, Mike.
Most of the old-timers at the cemetery that I administered all said that as well, in their sleep.

Just the same, peacefully and in my sleep is just the way I want to go when my time comes, but not until.

I'm playing a game of catch-up. Witchy said she wants to spend her final years in a small house on her daughter's property. I had an aunt in Southern CA who actually did that. She sold her own house and used part of the proceeds to build one of those "tiny houses" at the back of her son's property, behind the swimming pool. I visited her out there shortly before her death. I thought it was ideal. She had a caregiver during the day and one of her kids or grandkids at night. She could spend time in her son's house, but both his family and she had their private areas. And her tiny house was so complete and compact. It had everything you need, including a kitchenette and bathroom, a sitting area with a table, and the window seat converted into a bed at night. I've seen lots of different accommodations for the elderly, and this was the best set-up of all.

I just retired this January, I'm taking care of my dad. He is almost 94.

Oh, that can be a big job. But congrats on your retirement, and great for your dad's longevity, and for his having such a faithful daughter!

Ahoy!
I've been really into summer this year, spending time at my brothers cabin during the week when he's at work.
I may have posted a picture or two but here's one taken from a viewpoint on the PCH.
Our weather has been markedly different from the rest of the country, thankfully. We've almost reached 100° a few times but mainly have had mid 90s at the very worst.
At the moment it's 64° and overcast.
I have all of the doors and windows open and the A/C is off.

Oh, Andy, that beautiful photo brings back happy memories of driving down that highway with my two sons back in 2020, when we did the Lewis & Clark Trail. Oregon is such a beautiful state!
