well..........I had high hopes for this paint job but either I'm using the wrong materials or I lack the talent for this kind of paint job, but here was my attempt at a dark marble tombstone........

I started off by painting inside the letters and giving the whole stone a base coat of gray

I started on the back of the stone just in case I messed up (turns out this was the best looking side)

And here it is completed and in the yard........I will be re-painting it eventually because I really dont like this paint job....

Most marble I've seen doesn't have the veins going in the same direction, there's usually a lot of crisscrossing. Google images may have some examples.

It looks like light reflections from of rippling water.

Yes, she is...but also quite right.

You do damm fine work.

My suggestion for a finish is from my day out today.

Instead of marble why not granite/ concrete?

Not every family can afford marble.

most times I go for the old granite look, I wanted to go with something different this time, something kind of modern/contemporary but it didnt work out :(

yeah, did that, just dont seem to have the talent or correct materials to pull it off....
