I've seen Halloween stuff in the Dollar Tree and Big Lots as early as August. When I worked at Walmart I started seeing Fall and Halloween stuff in the back storage coming in from the shipment, and they barely started putting out the fall stuff.
I wonder why a lot of stores put the Thanksgiving stuff out before the actual Halloween stuff? I suppose fall harvest season goes hand in hand with Halloween though, so Thanksgiving makes a nice transition holiday from Halloween to Christmas when you think about it.

I'm thinking the fall colored foliage goes with either holiday; so those buying jack o lantern decorations may also want those colored fall leave garlands to go with it..or something along those lines

Yeah and I think you're probably right there. My neighbor gave me some nice candle holders that look like fall leaves. They'd probably work for both occasions. Both holidays take place in the fall after all.
I know a lot of people like getting the miniature pumpkins for Thanksgiving, but I like getting them as part of my Halloween decor. Besides, they're usually rotten by Thanksgiving, if not by Halloween itself. XD
Pumpkins also have their place in both holidays, albeit for different purposes. On Halloween you carve a pumpkin, but you use a different kind of pumpkin to make pies for Thanksgiving. Of course, some people like the pie pumpkins for carving.

That cat is orange, that's still a Halloween color.

$5.49 at Walgreens, though I got to think you'd end
up with a cat with a black tongue instead.

I don't really condone pet dyeing but if you're going to do it you may as well do it right.
