I love the excuse to dress up and not be a dork (because everyone is dressing up). I enjoy using my imagination to generate fun and amusing ways to pelt... I mean "provide" children with candy. I like the costumes, the cooler weather, the carving and the creativity that the holiday inspires. It's just all-around fun.
That's right. I just turned 70 years old last month!

Here I am as Martha Stewart!

The show, the moment the sun sets and the curtain goes up. I live for that very moment as I await the 1st trick or treater. Then for the rest of the evening i keep a mental tally of how many kids and adults are too afraid to venture up. Most eventually do though and they are rewarded with fantastic sights and sounds to give them a lasting childhood memory.

I don't have a lot of outdoor Halloween decorations, but I too, love to give out the ToT candy, take in all the different costumes...(I sure wish there were more monsters and fewer tv characters, though) horror movies and my Halloween Midnight Motorcycle Ride. Even if it's a bit chilly, there's nothing like cruising down a lonley highway on a motorcycle, at the "Witching Houre" on Halloween night.

I enjoy it all.

So do I, Kolchak. In fact, for me, Halloween starts at the end of September, and goes all the way through November 2nd. Everything comes down on November 3rd so I can start the Christmas cleaning, but Halloween isn't just one day of the year for me. It's a whole season of horror movies, pumpkin carving, checking out all the newer Halloween decorations, and treating myself to pop corn balls, taffy apples and verious other treats that are only around during the Halloween season.

Halloween and October represent two things. 1st and formost, it's the Halloween season, my favorite month and my favorite holiday. Sadly, though it also represents pretty much, the end of the good motorcycle riding season. I do take the bike out during the Winter on ocassion, when there's no snow on the ground and the temps aren't too cold, and things start to get better towards the end of March, beginning of April, but the real riding season is May through October. My Midnight Halloween Motorcycle Ride is for all intent purposes the close of the main riding season.

I think Halloween was also "the last hurrah" of the season for the ancient Celts, who invented it.

That's more or less what it was, Murf. The Celts celebrated the 'big day' to keep evil spirits away and to welcome good ones or loved ones who passed away.
