The book store at the college where I work still has some Halloween decorations for sale. They are 50% off.

I have a bag and a half of Reeses Peanutbutter Cups left, and for some reason, they just don't agree with my gastric bypass. I may end up giving them away.

I believe the longest time I had candy was into either May or June...

It was because it was a lot of candy that I didn't really like. But my mother got a hold of it one day and then it was gone within a week LOL

What's ever left this year will probably be donated to the work candy 'community chest' because of my gastric bypass, but I will keep some at home. Like I said, I'll probably polish it off by the time my Christmas cleaning is done.

We had a little leftover out of the stash for the ToT's. I'm finishing off the rest now as I type!

My son bought a bag full home, but I won't touch that as that's his. My wife will chop my hands off if I did!

Oh, you learn after a few years that the TOT candy is sacrosanct only for a few days. Whatever the kids really want, they eat pretty fast. After 5 or 7 days, it's fair game.

I'll never forget how my father and older brother use to go through my and my sister's ToT bag on a licorice hunt. They loved that nasty stuff as much as I hated it. And yes, most of the 'good stuff' was gone after about a week, and all that was left was the mediocre.

I tried that once when my younger sister decided to start raiding my ToT bag for Snickers bars and Reeses. Both of those were our favorites when we were kids. Of course, I did the same thing to her from time to time. Anyway, I hid my candy so well she could never find it in a million years. That's the good news. The bad news, the dog did find it. The candy was hidden in my ToT bag, wrepped in a tent that I had which I ocassionaly went camping in with the Cub Scouts. My sister had certain toys that we never, never touched. For instance, I was never to touch her toy vanity or barbie dolls. She was never to touch my recor player, camera or projectors or my tent. So that's where I hid my candy. The dog, however, had no such compunction so that was the end of my ToT candy for that year.

The one who really suffered the most was the poor dog. Chocolate is bad for dogs, and he got a major dose of it. He was throwing up all day after that.

Anyway, I learned my lesson very well. I found myself a new hiding place for the "good stuff," let my dad and brother have at it for the licorice, and my younger sister his her ToT bag in her "Raggedy Anne" toy box. I had a toy box, too. It was my brother's foot locker when he was in Vietnam. It was a very military looking wooden creat, but it was nice and big, and could hole all kinds of things. I still have that foot locker, too. I use it to store all of my old electronic junk now. Anyway, that's where I started hiding all of my Halloween Reeses, Snickers, Hersheys and Nestles Crunch. The cool thing, is my toy box nad a lock. My sister's toy box did not. BUT, that "unwritten law" was iron clad. I never invaded her toy box, she never invaded mine, so it went unlocked most of the time. I only locked it when I wanted to hide something from my parents. such as a gift I was planning on giving them, and when I was a teenager, my cigarettes.
