I agree Hay I'm doing my part in buying this is the most I spent on Halloween ever probably $150 since Halloween stuff came out, and that's probably more the I spent on there last 2 Halloweens put together!! And I got a job this past August, and love making money to spend on Halloween. But I like Christmas don't get me wrong BUT COME ON talk about a vibe killer Halloween is spooky scary and I don't need to feel all warm inside in September maybe in Nov. but come on. I mean seeing Halloween and Christmas stuff out together just isn't the right tone to set for October.

I work at Crate & Barrel and we already have gotten the majority of our christmas ornaments in, they will be going out in a couple of weeks.

WitchyMama wrote:I think it's important to remember....not everywhere are people excited about Halloween. Our Kmart, Walmart, and Targets don't put out that much because people here don't buy it. We have two whole stores to go to within a 50mile radius that are devoted to Halloween. I had spoken with one of the managers at the closest one to me and he said that most years they are lucky to make around 10% profit but they always manage to break even. If the economy effects them this year it's quite possible they won't be back next year. While they aren't open solely to make profit, they have to have something to be able to operate the business.
Some of us die hard have to figure out other ways to obtain our goods.
I suppose I'm lucky living between San Francisco and the Silicon Valley, because you don't have to look very hard to find pretty much anything you would want for any holiday, any time of the year.
On another topic isn't Ashville the location of Biltmore? I haven't been there but from what I've seen and read it would make an unforgettable haunted house.

It is in Ashville. Only a little ways from me here in TN. It is beautiful, but it almost feels like Christmas year round. It is not easy to think Halloween there. Very fancy.

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing in some stores.
Walmart has a HUGE area full of Halloween stuff this year, though.
And don't get me started on Walgreens.
They have the best stuff, hands down.
I just try to ignore any Christmas stuff, which granted, isn't always easy to do.
Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with Christmas. I'd rather not start thinking about it until after Oct, 31.

Don't know if any of youse have a Big Lots nearby, but I was there the other day, and they have the BEST looking resin skulls I've ever seen in a retail store for $8 a pop.

oh mac, you do bring a smile to my face. im actually surprised by the lack of interest by most in halloween. its my favorite holiday because its all about being silly. no worry like you said about what to get for so and so......just do the funniest thing you can do and have fun..eat, drink and be merry....christmas always stresses me out, but i LOVE halloween! i do very little decorating for christmas, probably cuz im tired out afer halloween!
our halloween stores dont open around here til october 1st so there are only about 3 weeks to enjoy it this year. our party is always the saturday BEFORE halloween and this year its a full week before. thats ok, i'll just have to double up my fun! i cant freakin wait til it opens!

I was at Big Lots a couple of days ago and I thought they had some good stuff, but up here I was suprised by the price on most of it, seemed kinda high. I noticed at the local Walmart there is not a huge selection like last year. Maybe its the new layout of the store but it just seems like limited stock.
Another thing, I was at Spencers yesterday, and as far as a chain store goes they usually have a unique amount of masks and props and other random halloween stuff. This year I went in and was shocked at our store. The manager told us they were only recieving left over from the previous year. what you see is what you get and thats it. There wasn't much there, has anyone else noticed anything similar at a Spencer's or some place else?
