Larissa, I have that same piece and I love it to this day! It belonged to my Grandmother (GG) and when she passed on and I was asked if there was anything I wanted. Without thinking, that was the first thing out of my mouth.
Later, I found out the Bentley was up for grabs, too, but one has to be happy with the choices in ones life, right?
See him...?
And... that is SUCH a great apartment! My compliments, DEFINATELY! Were the orange walls a deciding factor when you rented?

Larissa - wow! And what a cute doggie!
We live in a townhome/apartment complex and we have our own little patio, so I'm going to do some decorating with spider climbing up the wall, maybe a sign or two and I'll screw in a colored bulb. I won't go overboard, but just something to have the passing neighbors go, "Oh, cool decorations!"

Oh, you have him too! That is just too cool.
One good thing about my apartment - it's the first floor of a two-family house, so I do the yard too. No pix from last year, but this year will be better anyway. I've extended my collection.
Funny thing about those orange walls - I hate orange. It's seriously my least favorite color. When I moved in (the deciding factors were rent, size of apartment, and pets allowed) I totally intended to repaint it. But I moved in in Octobr of '02, and it was too perfect not to leave for Halloween that year. Then it was winter & it would've been beastly to paint & have the windows open in NJ in the cold. Then I had too much furniture (there's usually a huge glass coffee table in the living room in front of the couch, but I move it out for Halloween so we've got a dance floor) & there's all that crown molding to tape, and I just got complacent. Besides, it really does work way too well for Halloween. So it stayed.

Great job decorating, Larissa. I love the orange walls. I would love to be able to decorate my apartment but the managers and owners of my complex are quite strict. I go all out inside but I'm not allowed to do anything outside on my porch. Hopefully when I graduate from college next year I can get my own house and go nuts!!

Nyx, The Managers won't let people decorate their own porch? Is that legal? Holy, you poor girl you, does anyone decorate their porch for xmas or any other holiday?

Nyx, make sure to do up all your windows to the nines!

Yup, they are incredibly strict about "keeping up appearances." I got warned last year when I was outside carving my pumpkins. My manager asked me if I thought I was too old to be "getting into Halloween." I didn't realize it was a crime for a woman in her early 20s to enjoy Halloween.
They may keep me from decorating outside but I'm sure they'd keel over if they stepped inside my house after the 1st of October. I went so overboard last year I decorated the catbox. She really loved the orange and black streamers and crepe paper.
Oh, and to answer your question, Dutchess of Darkness, they have strict rules about Christmas decor as well. I think my owners and managers are the reincarnation of Hitler and his men... so uptight it's scary.

Oh my Nyx, Well hopefully your next place will allow for some creativity and life, my word! You poor soul

Well I hope you go all out inside so that you can feel the spirit

Too old? Too OLD??? I'm thirty-freakin'-seven and I'm not too old! Holy crow. Listen, if I ever, even when I'm 402, get too old for Halloween - or ANY sort of fun - just promise to shoot me, ok?

I'll have to go through my scrapbooks, jadewik, I'll see if I have a picture of it. My friends had a field day with me when they saw it. Something about a doctor and medication for OCD haha.
My favorite thing that I did last year involved a mounted motion sensor black tarantula. I hate spiders and this thing grossed me out. It was fuzzy and had glowing green eyes. When it was activated, it would drop down it's string of web and start wiggling it's legs like it was scurrying. Where'd I mount it? Right above my front door.

My mother threatened to kill me if it landed on her head one more time.
