Thanks Murf! I really hope they turn out. The last time I tried growing pumpkins I only ended up with the one pumpkin that never really ripened. Still the green jack o lantern made a pretty cool effect.
I looked through my old pictures and managed to find it:
Here it is lit up at night:
That was back when I was still living with my Dad and Grandma.

Thank you kindly! I knew by Halloween that pumpkin wasn't going to ripen properly. So I just took it along and carved it anyway.
No idea how mine will turn out in the end. I guess we'll see.

Thanks Witchy! I hope they turn out.
We haven't had as much rain the past few days and now some of the plants have turned yellow; I might actually have to go out there and water them for a change.

Planted my vines too late to get any gourds, but I did carve a couple:

I think growing your own pumpkin is a great idea. I always wait for the new season so that I could enjoy Halloween activities every October. Last year I visited Moapa Valley Corn Maze and enjoyed a lot. This year I am going again.

While looking for some local corn mazes I stumbled across this.
If it's not a real thing it ought to be.

the French Revolution was one of the most gruesome events in world history. That would make for a great Halloween party theme. As for growing pumpkins, I wasn't able to coordinate it this year, but I am going to give it a try next Spring. However the rabbits and squirrels are pretty busy here in Streator as they were in Dwight. You wouldn't believe how big some of the rabbits get around here, too.

My yard is too shady right now for a good garden.

That could be a problem, especially with pumpkins. Pumpkins need lots of sunshine and lots of water.
