I wish I could see some pumpkins in my garden! Whatever is eating the blossoms and buds off my vines is doing a very thorough job of it. I remember Mike used to say the rabbits would always get his. I haven't seen any rabbits in my yard in years, but maybe there are some I don't know about.

It might be a bit expensive for such a venture; but maybe you could pick up a game camera and place it in front of where you planted your pumpkins? This way it can take snap shots of anything that roams in front of it, and you might be able to catch the perpetrator in action.

My mom and step dad have one; they have some neat photographs from it and often share them on facebook. One time it took some pictures of me while I was wearing a witch hat.

That's a good suggestion, but I doubt I'll be spending money for a new camera right now! We have to save our pennies for daughter's schooling this fall. And second son is going to a less expensive place, but he will need some $$, too.

I highly doubt it's deer in our yard. I have never seen a deer on this block, though I have seen them several blocks down the street. We do have lots of smaller wildlife in our neighborhood, however--possums, skunks, rabbits. I expect one of them is the culprit. We have a lot of birds, too, but I can't believe a bird would eat an entire pumpkin blossom!

We're starting to see some of the leaves start to turn here. Though it'll be a while before we see the whole "show" if you will. I love it when the leaves turn, even though scientifically I know it's a survival mechanism to conserve energy since the daylight is getting shorter.

You never know Murf. But if you're in a more urban area; smaller wildlife would be more likely. Any squirrels around or chipmunks? I know any rodents can be mischief makers.

Yeah that's a good point; college is expensive! Even though I'm getting grants I still have to pay for other expenses, like the gas to drive there.

I've never seen a chipmunk in our yard, but we do have squirrels. I didn't think about them.

August is the month when I start to see the first oh-so-subtle signs of fall around here. But Back-to-School is in full swing. My husband has an in-service this Thursday, then is back full-time next week. The kids start the week after.

For the first time since we moved here in 1994, we won't have a child in the public school system. They have all graduated high school now. Quite a transition for us!

Starting to see Halloween in Arizona. I was at the craft store this weekend and they had a whole setup. As an added bonus, I happened to be there to buy fabric for a Batman costume for my son. =D

That's awesome Jadewik! If only I could sew; maybe one day I'll invest in a sewing machine but for now I might try things like foam or paper mache for a homemade costume.

Witchy sounds like you got yourself some pretty good finds! :D

Dollar General had Halloween candy out! I was totally psyched. :D

You don't have to be a seamstress to make a Halloween costume. I made several for my kids over the years. You just have to start early, because you will be slower than someone who sews regularly.

Full display is up at Big Lots. Got my first fix there over the weekend. Two aisles of Halloween stuff. It's good to be back.

Have a great day, everyone!

Is there a way to put a costume together without having to sew it?

Ah well maybe one day I'll learn. My mom learned how to Crochet when she got to be older. I'd prefer to stick with painting, drawing and sculpting.

Doesn't duct tape do everything?
