I just refuse to support people that insult my belief system in their movies all the time. And no, I am not talking about the Harry Potter films. I just refuse to give money to people like Oliver Stone, Leonardo Dicaprio, George Clooney and most other liberals. Especially when they turn around and donate money to causes and campaigns of politicians that are destroying the country. That is fine, if you want to support them still, but when more of our rights are being taken away, you might want to rethink that.
Look what has happened to the Catholic church recently. Many prominent Catholic leaders supported the Obama administration's health care bill. Now the church is being told they will have to cover abortions, morning after pills, and contraception. All things the Catholic church is against. It is a shame, but the Catholic church is to blame for this. You can't lie in bed with snakes and then act surprised when you get bitten.

Murfreesboro wrote:I Googled "Daniel Radcliffe political opinions" and came up with some stuff. He doesn't share my views on things, obviously, but I am sort of with Pumpkin on this. If I refused to see movies made by people whose political beliefs conflicted with my own, I would be left with a very short list of movies to watch! As long as the film itself is not political, I can generally give them their right to their own opinions.
The stuff I came up with (there could be more) had to do with his support of gay marriage (although he claims he is not gay, and I believe him). Also he said he is not religious, is in fact an atheist, so he is easily offended by the religious right. (I already knew he was an atheist because my daughter had Googled some stuff about him a while back. I believe he is ethnically Jewish, but doesn't follow that religion). He apparently is dismayed by some GOP political candidates who have spoken against gay rights, specifically gay marriage.
In general I do not think it is wise for an actor/singer/whatever to go to a foreign country and start making proclamations about their politics. If Radcliffe cannot vote here, I don't think it is smart of him to speak publicly about our political scene. Otherwise, though, I think he is a pretty predictable product of his milieu. He has grown up in theater and acting, primarily in England, where the theatrical community is perhaps even farther to the left than ours is. If his parents were non-practicing Jews, he probably hasn't had any religious training at all. He has hardly had a chance to be other than he is. Perhaps as he lives and learns he will revise some of his opinions. Perhaps not.
wow, scary, we said nearly the same things!

I noticed that, too,
Spooky!
Boogeyman, what you say about the Catholic church and its support of Obama care is generally true, but what worries me even more is how many members of Congress voted for that bill without having read it. Didn't Pelosi say at the time that "We have to vote for the bill to know what's in it"? Say what? I think it is a dereliction of duty to vote for any bill, but especially one as ground-breaking as that one, without having read every word in it. I mean, my mother taught me not to sign a frickin' contract without reading it. And now there are members of Congress who are saying, If I'd known what was in it, I wouldn't have voted for it? I know it was a long bill, maybe 2000 pages, but I've read books that long, more than once. Why can't they, when it matters so much? And if all their bills are too long to read, why can't they learn to edit what they write? I think it should be an impeachable offense to vote for a bill you haven't read.

Is it possible to move the politcal gripes to the actual thread for politics?
Last I checked, there was one but most of us are here to discuss Halloween.

Fair enough, though I don't know how to move them myself.
I don't think I've watched any TV this morning. Yesterday I was watching Season 3 of Merlin, which I bought on DVD a week or so back.

I think so, too. Love Merlin. Season 4 is airing in the States right now, but we probably won't get it on DVD until Season 5 airs, I'm guessing in 2013.
I am one of the few fans who actually loved Anthony Head's Uther Pendragon (the antagonist throughout much of the series), so I was sad that he died early in the 4th season. Head is such a good actor, and I thought he gave a really nuanced performance, portraying a father who loved his kids but didn't really understand how to deal with them.
I like all the young actors, though, especially Colin Morgan as Merlin. I think he is very, very good.

Watching 'The River' on Hulu since I missed it on ABC last night. Pretty spooky and creepy. Somewhat confusing. Reminds me a lot of Lost.

Oh awesome! Looks like they filmed at that Island of the Dolls which I posted about in the other thread. Cuh-reepy! It's in the second half of the series premiere.
Edit: And one of the dolls just turned it's head and started watching the people. This is getting good!
Catch this show on ABC.com or Hulu before they remove it. Hulu usually shows the last 5 episodes of TV shows that they carry.
