I'm starting to agree...
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Looks like I'm the only one here who cares about the well-being of Halloween.

Because of a mascot? Not sure how that ties into the well being of Halloween...that lives on through us and our kids and their kids and so forth...as it was handed down from our parents and grandparents...Halloween has more than one 'official' mascot. Vampires, Witches, Goblins, Ghosts, Frankenstein, Werewolves, are all long time running standards...why mess with the classics? Can't he just be added to the current group of mascots? There's room...

The world is full of kings and queens

Its heaven and hell, oh well

Those aren't exactly mascots. Symbols associated with the holiday, more like. But every holiday has a really cool mascot. Every holiday has a face. Christmas has Santa Clause, The Fourth of July has Uncle Sam, and Halloween has Sam.

Please, just say something positive about Sam. Everyone, look, I see massive potential in appointing Sam as the face of Halloween. Leave the rest to me, I just need a little support. I was hoping to get it from the members of this site, of all places.

I didn't say anything negative....I just said he should be added to the current mascot's for Halloween. Halloween did not start with Sam...remember that. Christmas started with Santa Clause (Not talking about the religious side), or Easter with the Easter Bunny...you can't just proclaim something as the Mascot after the fact...only add to it.

We just need to wait about 50 years. Sam will have grown in popularity. You're right. Mascots and traditions aren't claimed, they just. . . happen. Rest assured, I have faith, and I hope you all do to: Sam will happen.

In 50 years, I think there will be a new mascot of Halloween. :(

TheHallow1 is like the main-stream media and Sam is like Obama.....and I'm a little sick of both ;)

Halloween has had Jack since at least the late 1800s (e.g. 1904 in Jack Pumpkinhead in Oz).

Calm down. Just because people aren't agreeing with you doesn't mean they aren't fans of Halloween. Please be calm.

i appointed myself as mascot so *puts on big, fluffy pumpkin head* RAH RAH RAH
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
