Well, it was around 80 degrees today, but Fall is definately gettting ready to arrive. The trees are just starting to change color a little, and the nights are getting pretty cool. I am planning on taking the motorcycle to work tomorrow as January is not in the distant future, and like Shanda, I am going to be longing for good motorcycle riding weather and the sun shine.

By the way, I believe that Fall officialy begins on September 20th, which is only one week from tomorrow. I can't remember if the Autumnul Equinox occurs on the 20th of the 21st, but the long and short of it is that Fall does officialy begin next week.

I spent a few hours in the garden today. The sun was shining but the breeze was cool.

The red oaks and liquid amber trees are turning, and the shadows are starting to get longer.

I love it

I noticed that, too. Our local bakery has a special on pumpkin pies, and the grocery store also has them in stock. A little early, but they're there none the less.

Last nite I went outside looking around while walking with my dogs... I can smell the pumpkin pie outside, I know that my next door lady did baking it. She always do that in early September thru the end of New Year! She's crazy over pumpkin pies!

There's nothing like a freshly baked pumpkin pie, with whipped cream on tip. Bakers Square makes an awesome pumpkin pie.

I think it officially ends next week, but around here, we've clicked over into fall. Cool mornings, warm afternoons, leaves starting to tinge interesting colors. :D

I can't stand some firewoods smoking around the air here sometimes... some people are hillbillies.

Oh, now, I love the smell of a wood fire. Are you sensitive to smoke, then?

We don't have a fireplace, alas, but we do have one of those outdoor chimeneas (sp?). Several people in our neighborhood do, and a few are lucky enough to have the fireplaces, too. Also, my husband loves to grill better than anything. We are always smoking the place up! I guess you wouldn't want to live near us. :(

We used to be able to burn leaf piles on our street curb during the fall when I was growing up.

The smell of some types of smoke brings back fond memories of autumn.

I have both a burning spot in my back yard which I use for a Halloween bonfire, and I have a fire place in my living room whith gets lots of use during the Fall, Winter and early Spring seasons. I couldn't imagind life without a fire in the fire place. I even have weenie roasts in the living room during the Winter months. The little ones really get into that. When they come over in January or February, we'll roast hot dogs, and then we'll roast marshmellows for desert. One time we even make SMORS.
