What are my favorite Halloween decoration? That is like asking me which one of my children do I love the most!

I guess I would have to say that recent years I have leaned toward spiders and witch items. I don't mean that I collect witches, just things that go along with witchcraft. I am a christian so it is rather conflicting to admit to friends. I am so fascinated with witchcraft! I am also into the paranormal. As a Christian, I believe in souls living after death. I also think that some souls do not "move on" to their final resting places as soon as they die.

So, my decorating tends to follow the macabre. I guess.

Spiders because they creep me out.

Looking at my collection, most of it consists of pumpkin related items. I am going to attempt to make some tombstones this year since I have a house and can actually decorate outside! My favorite decorations are the ones that look real. I love it when houses look truly spooky and not all cheesy.

And very well put Phantom on your description of Wicca and Paganism.

I am not an expert on Wicca, but I do know that the ancient Greeks were peagans, because they worshipped gods and goddesses like Aphoriditi, Aries and the like. The anciend Romans worshiped Venus, Mars, Neptune which some planets were named after inlater years. Various other people worshipped Thor, Odin and various other peagan diaties. The Pre Christian Irish Druids worshiped trees. Those are all peagan belief systems, none of which have anything to do with Wicca.

My niece who's a Wiccan believes that God is all the forces of nature, and there are 4 spirits. One for wind, one for fire, one for water and one for earth.

If a torch-bearing mob of fundamentalcases were at my door, and I was forced to admit my beliefs, I would have to say 'all of the above'.

My personal philosophy is based primarily on the teachings of Charles Schultz and Fred Rogers, with a smattering of Catholic dogma from those who raised me, to a wee bit of occult gleaned from decades of voracious reading.

Many paths...
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

My favorite "top" Halloween decorations are my atheist pumpkins. They're just like Christian pumpkins, only when they die, they rot in the ground. :|

They are exactly like Christian pumpkins.

I like all of it, but I'd have to say the jack-o-lanterns are my favorite. I love carving the real pumpkins every year, but I also have some that are acrylic, ceramic, and metal.

I love to carve pumpkins as well...going to the Pumpkin patch and letting the kids pick out the pumpkin they want and then going on a hayride or walk around the corn maze is a blast...then go home and carve them up...

I do put out a few fake pumpkins because they don't rot, and I can plug them in to the switched outlets on my pre amp, and turn then on and off with the stereo. But I am also a very die-hard TRADITIONALIST. I MUST have real pumpkins to carve at Halloween, every bit as much as I must have a Real Christmas Tree at Christmas time.

And the real pumpkins are allways lit with candles, not flash lights or other 'new fangled' things that are popular with the fear mongers of today.
