Let Me In (2010)

Post by iHaunt » Tue Feb 02, 2010 11:54 pm

It is the remake of "Let The Right One In" (2008). The original was so good and it doesn't need a remake.

This is about a bullied young boy befriends a young female vampire. :)

So, this is a remake of "Let The Right One In"

It's directed by the same guy as "Cloverfield".... but I'll let that go. :?

Watched the Trailer. I think I'd like to see this. And it's actually going to be playing in the Month of October. It's about time some good horror movies were released to the theaters during the Halloween season.

The original really was great. I read that the original director was really pissed that they were remaking it for an American audience though. It seems wasteful to me.

It says on Wiki (don't know how reliable it is though) that "Let the right one in" was originally made in Sweden, and that the new film is an English language translation.

Yeah it's Swedish but there were no subtitles. The dialogue was overdubbed in English and to be honest it wasn't even that noticeable to me. The film relies more on visuals and "feel" than dialogue anyway.

The remake trailer does seem to have the same kind of feel but I still don't understand why they're remaking it. Just go see the original. It's worth it.

I know "Let The Right One In" was from Sweden.... but this remake "Let Me In" was right here in USA... I really didn't understand that they have some different scenes and storylines. :?

I am so annoyed that 99% of horror films that Hollywood produces these days are remakes and sequels. Let the Right One In was a masterpiece, and easily one of the best horror films of the past decade. The reason for the remake is that vampires are popular again in pop culture, and because most Americans are too stupid to read subtitles and appreciate foreign films.
I was lucky enough to see Let Me In (the remake) at a test screening, and despite my anti-remake attitude, I thought it was extremely well done. A few minor changes were made to the script, and all of them were good decisions in my opinion. So if you see either Let the Right One In or Let Me In, you won't be disappointed. Both of them have the potential of traumatizing these Twilight preteens who think they know vampires, haha.

I have been willing to read subtitles at times over the years, but I do agree that they detract somewhat from the experience of the film. I find that I even read the subtitles when the film/TV show is in English (if the closed-caption button gets pushed, you know, for the hearing impaired). That is really distracting! Even when I can understand what the actors are saying, my eyes will read if the reading material is there. And you do miss some of the acting that way. (You also get caught up in the slight differences between printed text and spoken dialogue.)
