Casket sleeping habits?

Post by iHaunt » Tue Jun 29, 2010 4:42 pm

Has anyone gotten inside a casket before? I have a hard time thinking NO ONE has... but I've always been curious, to the point I would like to do it myself. :D

A guy did make his own casket bed, and it looks great! I will ask him to send me a pic of his own casket bed, then I will post it here anytime. ;)

I feel like yawn, and fatique.... time for me to head off to coffin!

iHaunt, I tend to be clausterphobic, so I would never climb into a coffin. Besides that, they have a locking mechanism, that seals the dead body in. Once that mecanism is engaged, there's no way to get out, and there's no way anyone can open it for you without a crow bar, and you could sufocate.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I love the Macabre, spooky cemeteries, grave yards, haunted places and the like as much as anyone here but I have no desire to rush things, as it were. I have plenty of 'haunted road trips' to make, and a lot more living to do before I'm fitted for a coffin.

I surely do understand, Mike. But I didn't mean a "real" coffin, I mean homemade coffins like what the haunters always like to make them. ;)

If I want to sleep in a "real" coffin, then forget it!!! I don't want to get locked myself inside that place!

Even a fake coffin, or any tightly enclosed space like a coffin for that matter, would not be something that I could abide. Also, even a fake coffin, with the lid closed, could present a sufocation hazzard.

thats not quite true, they do have locks but they are just a sliding switch lock that can be unlocked by flipping it a different dirrection, they dont "lock" like a key lock. Many do have rubber seals tho and they do seal the inside, but they also have a vent so gas and liquids can seep out but not get in, so yes, you could suffocate in them but they can be re-opened by flipping the latch back to "open"...

this is the one I used to nap in

I haven't, but I'd like to try it. I bet it would be cozy.

I'm going to be cremated so it might be a tight fit to try sleeping in my burial container.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I see your point, Spooky, but I don't think you can unlock any coffin from the inside, and as you pointed out, suffocation is a very real danger.

To each his own, but I would rather not see the inside of a coffin until after I'm dead, and then I won't actualy be seeing it. I will be a disembodied spirit.

Well it it's all the same to you, I would prefer NOT to put that theory to the test.

mine didnt have ANY locks or any seals and it was really comfy......on a few occasions I'd sneak away and hide in my coffin and take a short nap, just to get away from the kids :)
