Re: Need Some Ideas....
how about Halloween being "invented" by the evil democrats in the Gov as a way to summon Satan for their evil policies but no one knew it because the democrats lied and said it was a day to honor the dead?
if you dont like the democrat angle, replace that with liberals....

Aliens. Halloween was invented by aliens as a way to encourage childhood obesity. Because fat children grow into fat adults, and you know what comes next.....

Can't fail at something you didn't actually attempt.

Re: Need Some Ideas....
Okay, let ma make another attempt. Here's my own personal variation on the Jack O'Lantern story.
Jack was an innocent child who's father was a lantern maker by trade. He made allkinds of lanterns, from the mundane common things that everyone had, to the more ornate models that were prefered by the aristocracy. Anyway, as customary in those days, Little Jack O'Lantern was to follow in the foot steps of his father, and he started out by hollowing out turnups. Later on, when Jack's father got tired of being opresed by the Englush Royals, he decided to pack up his family and move to the Americas. They settled in the provence of Massessachuttes, near Salem. Jack's Father got himself some land and build an ample house with a place where he could ply his trade. One of the first things Jack noticed were the large orange sheres growiing in a patch in his neighbors yard. Pumpkins, they were called. They were used primarily for baking and as a food source, but Jack saw that they would make a fabulous lantern, so he carved one up, hollowed it out and placed a candle in it. The yellow interior was a great reflector, and the ilumination was quite good for something thaw as improvised from a vegiatable. Jack decided to grow his own pumpking patch, and try his hand at plying his youthful trade by selling these lanterns to hunters and farmers as inexpensivd light sources.
Time went on, and Jack made himself a pretty tidy sum of money for a child back in those days. One day, a stranger came to town. A mean, surly bully of a man by the name of Tobias Sanderson. Tobias kept an eye on Jack, and he noticed that he kept all of his money in an old preserve jar. Every day he would count his earnings, and then deposit them into that jar. It was rathe large, and almost completely full. Tobias waited patiently for a few days until the jar was almost full. Then on October 31st, he snuck up behind the boy, pulled out a large knife and slit little Jack O'Lanterns throat from ear to ear. The child never even got out a scream. Tobias then grabbed the money jar and took off. Realizing that he had blood all over his cloths, he decided that he would be better off if he stay away from the main road and went to the next town through the woods. He lost his sense of diection. It was a moonless night, and there were clouds in the sky, so there was not much light. Then Tobias caught sight of some lights. Soft yellow lights off in the distance. He made his way towards them. When he got to the place where the lights were, he noticed something very strange. The lights were all comming from pumpkins, very much like the oens that Jack O'Lantern use to carve, only these pumpkins had faces. Hidiously deformed faces. Tobias frize in his tracks. Suddenly, one of these lanterns bit him on the leg, takinghis foot off right above the ankle. As he fell to the ground, the pumpkins want into a feeding frenzy, tearing Tobias up into little pieces. Off in the distance he could hear the laughter of a boy.
The next morning the body of Jack O'Lantern was found, as was the torn arcus of Tobias Sanderson. The money jar had fallen and the cons spilled out. Jack was buried in the main churchyard. Tobias was burried in unhallowed ground for what he had done. The story got around, that every October 31st, the ghost of Tobias Sanderson would walk the earth in search of another victim. For that reason, the children would cut open a pumpkin, hollow it out, carve a face on it, and place a candle in it to keep him away. The Salem Witch trials did pur a small crimp in it for a few years, but ultimately the trend caught on, and more and more communities got into it, until Halloween became the fun day that it's known as today.

Waaaait... are you trying to get us to do your homework for you? =P
If that's the case, you should try Yahoo! Answers... Ugh. So many people do others' homework there! It's insane! Last week, I tried to help someone with a bending moment equation for their statics homework and they basically told me my answer was useless because he either didn't ask the right question and his linearly increasing load was written in equation form OR he wanted me to specifically come out and tell him the answer (when he didn't give enough information)... I really don't think the guy knew what he was asking... silly freshman engineering student.

Ok, I'm NOT trying to get you to do my work for me. I'm writing the whole story. I have it all figured out in my head. I just need this ONE good twist. I figured I'd ask the crowd.

I wouldn't mind reading what you have and offering ideas... but I might not be able to get back to you before your due date.
