Re: The Future of Halloween
As sad as death can be on a personal level, I'd hate to live in a world where nobody ever died. WalMart is crowded enough as it is!!!

The only way I'd like to have eternal life is if we already have colonized other planets. That way, over-population isn't a problem.MacPhantom wrote:As sad as death can be on a personal level, I'd hate to live in a world where nobody ever died. WalMart is crowded enough as it is!!!
But it seems that eternal life is becoming a reality. Watch this episode and let your mind be blown.

Re: The Future of Halloween
Either YouTube is having problems or my computer is. I am not too keen on the prospect as living for ever in this world, either. I do think eternity has somethign wonderful to offer us.
At any rate, I was just speculating. I don't really believe that inmortality is possible through our own efforts. The point I was making was that if it was possible for us to live for ever in good health, death would no longer be a factor, and Halloween would either fade into history, like the ancient Roman holiday, Patmas did, or it would be strictly a time for joking about something that use to be a factor.

I'm reading a book entitled 'Will Storr Vs. The Supernatural'( http://www.amazon.com/Will-Storr-vs-Sup ... 0061132195).
In one chapter he discusses the idea of an afterlife with a shrink who firmly believes that anyone who believes in a soul is delusional, and that we are basically zombies with reasoning power.
I haven't finished the book yet but knowing what I think I know about all of my fellow haunters in here, it would be worth a read.

Re: The Future of Halloween
Andy, no offence, but that sounds like a very depressing book in deed. I very firmly believe in an after life.
At any rate, it's fun to speculate on what the future might hold. As for what I really believe in my heart, I won't say, because my beliefs are strongly based on my religious faith, ad I don't want to turn this into a debate on religion.

Wow...one track mind! Of all the different meanings of the word "stroke", you pick perhaps the most obscure yet decidedly raunchiest....

You might find it at the library, you know, those musty book repositories?MacPhantom wrote:Heh heh.... Different strokes, I guess.... I added that one to my Amazon wishlist.....
And Mike, it's an even-handed look at the great beyond. Most of it deals with the experiences and people surrounding various well known hauntings.
And he is funny, to boot.

Re: The Future of Halloween
Ewww. I like reading while enjoying a sandwich, but how could I do that with a book that who knows how many other people have read in who knows how many other unsanitary places?!? And what if I want to read the book again in six months? How much more contaminated will it be by then?!?
Besides, libraries are bastions of socialism, and, thus, un-American.

Didn't you know that frequent exposre to low levels of bacteria helps boost your immune system by keeping those white cells on 'alert'?
