Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Re: Halfway Point Thru October
Hey Andybev, good to hear from you too. The weather just turned beautiful here so its really feeling like Autumn. I've been watching alot of scary movies with my girlfriend this whole month. We light up the pumpkins, open the windows, make a bowl of popcorn, burn a pumpkin spice candle and pop in a horror film. In between the movie, the shadows flickering on the wall, a cool breeze coming in, and the smell of pumpkin in the air, it makes for quite a nice atmosphere. We went to Oktoberfest at the Texas Renaissance Festival last weekend and drank pumpkin beer and spoke in middle-English accents. Brilliant! We have a ton of Halloween parties and Halloween festivals/events throughout Houston to go to, and at some point, I am determined to find myself sitting in the most sincere pumpkin patch with nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see. . . If only it didn't go by so fast...

Hey Adrian, glad you joined our community. Yeah, I've watched all these new faces pop up over the last few years and it warms my heart to see this forum grow. And everyone has such great spirit. It would be so cool if we could all have a big Halloween party together someday, perhaps in Salem! Or New Orleans.

Hi Snoopy/RedBaron,
Nice to meet you.
A get together sounds great! I'd love that!
And it really does feel like fall here. Gloomy and windy and leaves flying off the tree in front.
I've been out doing charcoal rubbings and out to the orchard for pumpkins and gourds and cider.
No parties yet, I've been down a bit with a cold. But planning some.

Re: Halfway Point Thru October
Oh, I'm really behindhand this year. Our weather has not been good--lots of rain--which has hindered my outdoor decorating. And my kids have been getting sick with first one thing and then another. I've got some catching up to do! I want to do a corn maze, maybe a haunted tour, etc. I have been watching a fair number of spooky videos.

Hey Belladonna, its good to meet you too. Adrian, I think we should definitely try to set up a meetup for the people of this forum next year. Maybe a weekend of planned activities like a New Orleans swamp ghost tour, haunted houses, Vampire ball, etc.

Re: Halfway Point Thru October
It's a great idea and I think we'd all have a great time.
New Orleans would be perfect for the food and music and atmosphere...but Salem, Mass would be good too. Heck anywhere we meet, I know it would be a blast.

Re: Halfway Point Thru October
Being half-way through October is good and bad, really. On the positive side, it's closer to Halloween but on the negative side it's also closer to the end of this great season.
