mine gets worse. but its ok my husband is getting used to it.

Well I would say my obsession has always been pretty crazy, however come to think of it, I do think that joining this forum has really kicked it into overdrive

I think my obsession has hills and valleys. Some years its greater than others. This year it was definitely up there, and I agree with DOD, I attribute it to joining this forum.

Not sure what you mean by "religious stigma". A "stigma" is a mark of disgrace.

When I first started "Haunting", I lived in Illinois, in a condo, with the parents. They really liked the idea back then, (this was AFTER I was discharged from the Navy.) We lived there a few years, then we moved to FL. The first year, I didn't do too much, mostly went out to bars in wolfman make-up & costume. Then, I had my foot amputated, and I wasn't that good at walking around yet. So minimal Halloween was done.

After that, I just did the garage. Blacked-out the interior, and made a false back wall, with a talking boris in a casket. I did the same thing, but perfected the wolfman costume and popped out after the kids got thrown off guard.

Then my mom came up with the Harry Potter theme, and we did that for a few years. I had to get my left foot amputated, and from there, I didn't have the stamina to stand, climb ladders, and run around placing props and setting it all up. Just to take it all down the day after. Box it up and put it in the attic durring the following week.

Then, we put the house on the market, so we couldn't do the haunt, because the house had to be "showroom Ready" at the drop of a hat. Now, I'm moved out on my own, and apartment living put the Ka-Bosh on the haunt. But that doesn't mean I couldn't throw a party. So, with a bit of doing indoor haunts, outdoor haunts and parties, I had to switch gears almost every year. But yeah. Every year it gets better & better.

Or "worse & worse", depending on how you choose to look at it.

Well, this year, my (ahem) "INTEREST" got more intense because I was able to get out and do very little...so I was scrambling around trying to do what I could, I bought books and music to keep me occupied with spooky things since I wasn't able to get out there and "see" Halloween very much.

We practice halloween all year round. From a monthly make and take with good freinds where props are built or atleast started. Decorations that are out all year and now easily accessable. To say our obsesion has grown hmm this year we had to construct 12x12 shed just for the storage of halloween.

When I lived at my parents house, we allways had to wait until around mid October before putting up any decorations, and we couldn't even buy our pumpkins until about a week before, but I've changed all that since living on my own. I have the decorations up usualy no later then Sept 30th, and they stay up until November 3rd. I have a freshly carved Jack O"Lantern on display through out the whole month of October, too.

I also put out one of my artificial pumpkins on any Friday the 13th, unless it falls in December, or too close to Easter or Holy Week.
