Going Crazy

Post by spookyboo » Fri Oct 26, 2007 1:14 am

Ok...breathe...remember to breathe.....
why does it always seem that the universe is against you?
I am trying to get my ducks in a row for my theme when a whole bunch of things go wrong
I do believe I told you it was a haunted carnival. First the rain is going to really stop most of the outside stuff and my decorations some of which are poster board will be ruined.
I found out that my Town will not let me have a fire eater or anything to do with fire because of the drought conditions. The person I had that was going to be walking on stilts fell off his stilts at another function and broke his leg. The party supply store sent me the wrong color fabric for my tent idea and there is no time to get more. On top of that I had to have dental surgery because a wisdom tooth broke and when they tried to pull it the root tips broke off in my gums and they had to do the surgery to remove them. I am swollen and wont be able to eat solid food for several days. The only good thing is I get to take pain killers lol.
Ok sorry I just needed to vent. I am going to have to make some changes I guess, my husband even put out the suggestion of ..why not do the carnival thing next year and just improvise. "Sigh" I know all of you at one time or another have been in this situation....
it's just that I really wanted this year to be special since I missed last year. I guess I just need some words of inspiration from the only people who could understand!!!!
Wild Winds thou shalt blow
carry away my saddened soul
tis the time of Judgement

Awww! That's some bad news Spookyboo! I'm sorry so much went wrong for you. But look at it this way.

This year you gained a bit more knowledge. Next year you'll have the experience of this year to help guide your way.

I hope that next year, you won't need a root canal. Next year you'll probably have better weather.

Next year you'll buy some plastic and paint your cut-outs in acrylic paints, so that their weatherproof.

Maybe you can dye the fabric to a better color. Or run out to the sewing & fabric stores and take a breather and a nice autum drive. Don't be in a hurry. Haste makes waste.

Find some apple cider and warm it up. Buy some small paper cups and have a little extra treat for the visitors. If it's rainy and cool, they'll enjoy the warmth you spread.

Go ahead as planned, in spite of the clouds. Put a smile on and greet your friends & relatives. Show them that Halloween is more than just what you have out in the yard. It's what's in your heart that really counts.

They'll see your handywork. They'll recognize the spirit. You've done it for them, not for yourself.

Chin up and knok 'em dead!

Spookyboo, hun... we love ya and ALWAYS remember that it IS this time of year and more or less it's ALWAYS bound to go 50/50. You'll do GREAT with whatever you've got going on and if nothing more than 'in spirit', we're ALL with you!

I wish I could've been there with you.

YOU WERE!

Spookyboo, this year will still be mighty special for your guests when they see all the efforts you've gone through to give them such a memorable Halloween in spite of the weather being against it and having to endure dental surgery yourself!! That sucks!! But those factors are out of your hands and your friends will know that. Everyone will have a great time and I hope you do as well since you are most deserved of it! And I say have a beer with those pain killers..yeah, of course you're not supposed to, but...

I can relate...
looks like this is gonna be a down year for me too.
I was told early in the week that I couldn't set up on the front lawn I've been using for display for years now.
Gal Pal can't find anybody with a lawn big enough either..
Asked the son who lives in another town if he would like me to set up at his place, but he said no.
Now, I treasure his honesty and our ability to communicate more then the urge to decorate for halloween, so it's not like I'm gonna set up that snipers nest and knock off 20 people before they figure out where I'm firing from...the kid actually still puts his arm around me in public...he's 16, and I know at this age he has to go through that 'whole seperate person thing' where he disengages and sees where he is at. Find out what's right for him...would probably be embarassed by the whole deal around his friends..and that's legit and I told him so...
So here's the highlights of what's staying in the storage..
We had a mouldering corpse that's hung from the trees, another in the stocks, and a baby buggy based on an old MAD cover with the two glowing eyes and a tiny hand holding a cleaver...also a coffin holding Creature from the Black Lagoon, and new for this year, a piece of hardware that looks like an alien egg hatchery from Area 51 that is crawling with space worms and larvae coming out of eggs that would shoot a nasty bug out the front when the kiddes stuck there hand in...PLUS our usuall mad scientist lab where we brew up a potion on the spot the kids can drink...if they dare...(It just looks scary...actually kind of good.)
Gal Pal is going to be out of town, so it's Ed Wood and I on halloween, with Robot Monster taking up the slack...
Usually after Halloween I start with the old time soul music and get the joint cleaned up steam to stern for the on coming high holy holidays...It's started now..
For some reason, A&E used to play THE STRANGER with Orson Welles every year at midnight on Nov. 01, and it has gotten to be a custom to sit back and watch it after we closed the shop for the night..think I'll be tossing that on pretty soon..
But I have to admit that if THIS is as bad as the news can get for me, I'm doing good. I have my job, both parents, and my divorce. I can sleep at night and am as healthy as a horse. I own a piece of the high school stage that Buddy Holly performed on, and I found a copy of TEENAGE ZOMBIES at the pawn shop for like 3 clams...a movie so cheesy it should be velveeta...
Post halloween has always been a clear calm time for me..to sit back and enjoy the fall turning into winter and take stock and be happy for the cool stuff I have in my life...
With the plug pulled, it just started a week earlier...

Hey Spookyboo, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having such troubles,it seems to be going around this thread like the damn flu bug  I can totally relate when you say you feel like the whole universe is against you right now, I very much feel the same way. I'm glad you have found a way to improvise, and I'm sure everything will turn out wonderful, and then you have a whole year to plan and add onto your big special event for next year. I really hope it all works out for you :)

Holy Holistic Healing, Batman!
The ex phones up and asks what my son was talking about when he asked if I could do the halloween down there after all....I guess he decided to ask her after I couldn't find anywhere else and she okayed it...so we set up Wednesday afternoon at three with the stuff and give out the candy that night...I might head down today or tomorrow and set up some stuff before hand...the items that can't be stolen...
and I credit all the positive influence and good vibrations that you folks send...just makes me want to put on the Beach Boys...and yes, I will try and get some pics...and I'm making sure that the new donna dead goes with us...

SpookyBoo Im so sorry things aren't working out for you! Im sure everything is going to turn out great though, even if not exactly according to plan. I feel for you having to have dental surgery though...thats got to be one the most painful things I've ever been through (aside from childbirth, obviously), lol. Things aren't going according to plan for me either this year. Just not enough time or money to get it together. Im not even decorating the outside of my house this year because of it. I had all my things pulled out of the attic and bought a couple of things new this year and they aren't even going up!!! But we are going to make the best of things and make sure that the kids have fun, even if the adults don't get to have as much fun as we want to this year. Just too many things happening right now. I did get the inside of the house decorated and I got my pumpkin to carve too so Halloween isn't completely on the back-burner this year!!! I hope everything works out for you!!

Uncletor...Im so happy that your going to be able have your yard haunt afterall!!! Thats wonderful!!! :D

It looks like from your pictures, that you ended up doing great.

I know what you mean too...I have these cool pumpkin sacks to do a sack race, I have wanted to do one for the past 3 years, and the weather has never co operated. It is always too cold and too windy. We have had unusually warm weather here, but this week it rained all week, and then got super windy. I wanted to make a cool thing over my pergola...I wanted to drape material over it, and put a table under it, with a candelabra and have these "dummies' sitting at the table...but the weather stunk.

I totally love your ideas though....

I have had teeth things happening too which made it hard to eat stuff....tomorrow I am getting braces and last week I got the spacers stuck in my teeth...so I couldn't chew certain things and I had some pain and discomfort from them....so, I understand what that's like too.

Yeah bad luck always sucks for sure. Even small or minor things happen to me when Im at work as a maintance and all the small stuff falls on me which of course it is a small closet. these things can get to me as well.

But At least your troubles are over for good. Like they say tomorrow is a new day. I wish you a speedy recovey on your wisdom tooth I had some remove last year and it was torture lol. Have a nice day.
