7:10 --- Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1922, 82 mins.)
8:35 --- Nosferatu (1922, 84 mins.)
10:00 --- The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923, 101 mins.)
11:45 --- The Phantom of the Opera (1925, 94 mins.)
Edit: My version of "The Phantom of the Opera" ran 106 mins., and again, silent or not, this is a great film (horror or otherwise).
Note: I saw many silent movies decades ago thanks to the local PBS affiliate's Saturday night programming. Not much needs to be said about the cinematic impact of "Dr. Caligari", "A Symphony of Horror" that is "Nosferatu" or the masterpieces that center on 'The Man of a 1,000 Faces", Lon Chaney.
I remember the terror I felt watching the great John Barrymore transform in to the hideous and frightening Mr. Hyde, and if any horror fans have never seen it, please do yourself a favor and indulge. I know how difficult it may be to watch it (or any of the other films) in the 21st Century ... but these films are the foundation, and a real treat for fans of horror movies.

Launched into the marathon this morning, thinking I had posted last night ... a 13-movie marathon to kickoff the 13 Days of Halloween.
Friday, October 19 – 13 Days of Halloween
6:00 --- 13 Ghosts (2001, 91 mins.)
7:30 --- Dracula’s Daughter (1936, 71 mins.)
9:00 --- The Mummy’s Ghost (1944, 61 mins.)
10:00 --- Dracula 2000 (2000, 99 mins.)
12:00 --- Candyman (1992, 99 mins.)
2:00 --- Queen of the Damned (2002, 101 mins.)
4:00 --- Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982, 99 mins.)
6:00 --- The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971, 94 mins.)
7:30 --- Underworld (2003, 133 mins. DC)
10:00 --- Wrong Turn (2003, 84 mins.)
11:30 --- Scream (1996, 111 mins.)
1:30 --- Freddy vs. Jason (2003, 97 mins.)
2:45 --- Motel Hell (1980, 102 mins.)
Notes: Many people either forget or don't realize "Dracula's Daughter" is the true sequel to the Lugosi classic, and is a really well-done film deserving more attention and credit. ... Lon Chaney Jr. as Kharis, though not an exceptional performance, his one-eye, arm-in-a-sling, foot-dragging portrayal is how The Mummy is often characterized. ... Gerald Butler as Dracula --- wild this is the same actor who portrays King Leonidas in "300" ... I really loved Aaliyah, she was awesome as the 'Queen of the Damned" and I prefer this to "Interview" mostly because of her ... Dr. Phibes unmasked is an all-time classic monster ... "Wrong Turn" is very underappreciated I think ... "It takes all kind of critters ..." line from "Motel Hell" ranks up there with "I never drink ... wine"

Saturday, October 20 – Hammer House of Horror
1:00 --- The Phantom of the Opera (1962, 84 mins.)
2:30 --- The Brides of Dracula (1960, 85 mins.)
4:00 --- The Curse of the Werewolf (1961, 91 mins.)
5:30 --- The Gorgon (1964, 83 mins.)
7:00 --- The Mummy (1959, 88 mins.)
8:30 --- The Curse of Frankenstein (1957, 82 mins.)
10:00 --- The Horror of Dracula (1958, 82 mins.)
11:30 --- Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966, 90 mins.)
1:00 --- Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968, 92 mins.)
2:30 --- Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970, 95 mins.)
Notes: Most have seen Hammer Films' version of the classic tales of terror ... "The Brides of Dracula" is noteworthy mostly for its highly unique 'destruction' scene of Count Dracula ... Though I like how Oliver Reed looks as a Werewolf, I've always been under whelmed by this film ... Perhaps my personal favorite among the Hammer Films is "The Gorgon" --- Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee in one of the more original movies from Hammer; its lack of special effects also gives it a special charm.

Sunday, October 21 – Wing of Bat … Eye of Newt …
1:00 --- Black Sunday (1960, 87 mins.)
2:30 --- The Witches (1990, 91 mins.)
4:00 --- Practical Magic (1998, 103 mins.)
6:00 --- The Witches of Eastwick (1987, 118 mins.)
8:00 --- The Craft (1999, 101 mins.)
10:00 --- Spellbinder (1988, 99 mins.)
12:00 --- Warlock (1989/1991, 103 mins.)
Notes: "Black Sunday" aka "The Mask of Satan" is a wild ride --- beginning as a tale of woman burned at the stake for her love of Satan, then playing out as a mix of vampirism and Egyptian-Mummy-like reincarnation, all packaged in a visual treat from first time director Mario Bava ... I'm an admitted sucker for Sandra Bullock, so be it ... "The Craft" is probably the best movie about pure witchcraft ... "Spellbinder" is the unknown gem that should be viewed if at all possible ... Julian Sands and Richard E. Grant are fun to watch battle it out in "Warlock"

This is really great stuff, Uncle Poe! Keep up the great work. You list movies that I've never heard of or either have forgotten all about. I check in to see what's on the agenda almost everyday. Thanks a million.
Have you ever see The Forgotten One
