What do you like to decorate with? That bucket of blood?

Good luck with it, hope everything is okay.

We ended up not carving since we missed the day before for swimming. Halloween itself was super busy between school events and then trick-or-treating.

Then you'll need to carve for Thanksgiving--fall leaves and turkeys. I've done that before.

Pumpkins are usually used as a centerpiece on the Thanksgiving table, but carving a turkey into a pumpkin does sound like a cute idea.

Pumpkinmasters has a great pattern I have used several times. I used to do it while the turkey cooked. Then I decided it was too much work every year, that I should use a Funkin instead, so I could keep it. But I find the artificial pumpkins harder to carve, so I haven't gotten off my lazy behind to do that.

Autumn leaves are easy, though. You can use cookie cutters, or just trace leaves from the yard.

I heard of those Funkins, but there's nothing quite like the smell of a real pumpkin when you first cut into it and pull off the lid. That's one of my favorite smells, just like the smell of pine when we would get our Christmas tree.

I cherish the pumpkin seeds!

I have a mix of real and artificial. I used to carve my natural pumpkins to elaborate patterns, but I've gotten lazier as I've gotten older and decided I didn't want to put in that much work unless I could keep the result from year to year.

Anyone with a pumpkin to carve for Thanksgiving:

Go to the Pumpkinmasters web site and look for Turkey or Thanksgiving patterns. They sell them there, and you can download them. They have the very turkey pattern I have used multiple times, and a cornucopia, etc. You can see the finished products before you buy.

That sounds nice, Murf. I always thought of a Thanksgiving pumpkin as more of a centerpiece then a carving, but that could be fun. I probably won't do it, though. Several of the stores and some bakeries bought up a lot of unsold Halloween pumpkins to make pies. Oh, and I do love a good pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving for desert.

Usually we do pumpkin pie, but this year I promised my daughter we'd do a gingerbread-pumpkin trifle, because she loves gingerbread.

That does sound good. I enjoy good gingerbread myself.
