Heatwaves not withstanding, I ordered "The Car" on DVD, "Trick R Treat" the 1986 version on DVD, and the original Universal Monster "Dracula" Legacy Collection on Blue Ray, and they should be arriving no later then Tuesday of next week. I also bought some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups at Aldi's yesterday. They weren't Halloween specific, but the packaging color is orang, black and yellow, and I was in the mood. And I originally said I was going to cook out on the grill for Halloween, but if I can swing it, I just might slow cook a brisket roast in the crock pot instead. I'll roast it with onions, garlic, corn and potatoes.

My husband went to Kroger yesterday and brought home two ceramic jack-o-lanterns, one orange and one white!

I just got in the 1986 version of "Trick or Treat" on DVD, and just a note, that Friday September 13th if 'Little Halloween.' There's a sign of the upcoming season.

the mail dude handed my "The Car" DVD just as I finished mowing the lawn today. Another first sign of the season.

I used my new Instapot to make butternut squash soup last night. Yum!

We have an Instapot, but after watching some demonstrations I'm terrified to go near it.

It's a new-fangled pressure cooker. It can do many different things, saute, steam, slow cook, cook rice, etc, but mainly it's for cooking stuff fast.

Lol, Andy. I have probably owned this one for six mos and just now got brave enough to use it. I have never cooked with a pressure cooker before. It is a different beast, for sure.

My sister in law has one of those old fashioned stove top pressure cookers and it still works. She made stew in it once and it came out quite good. I wonder how good those new age pressure cookers do with brisket, pot-roast or Swiss Steak. I'm still pretty much a fan of the barbecue and my crock pot.

I think they come in different sizes, but mine would be too small for brisket or a large pot roast. It is, however, perfect for soups, stews, and beans. They say you don't even have to pre-soak dried beans or peas.

I like that idea, because I LOVE good baked beans with salt pork, but it takes two days, literally, to make. The beans usually have to soak for 24 hours before you can even begin to mix in the other ingredients and then they have to bake for ever. My mom made the absolute best I ever had in my life.

My teeth are growing sharp.
The dark night beckons. Bear us your soul, it whispers. Expose your wicked delights. Join the rest of us on the wind. The dark night beckons and we answer. Sailing into the shadows.
