Re: Fall Equinox 2015
Did someone say fall? I call BULL! Maybe when the temperatures start dropping below 100 I'll believe but until then... nah!

Wasn't the world supposed to end this week? Something to do with the moon or something?

Actually the reason that day was picked is because it is the same day the conference at the U.N. begins. And they are granting state hood to Palestine, so it kinda fits.

Re: Fall Equinox 2015
Well. I used my Mo-Jo to ensure that we survived. The moon did not kill us. Once again I have saved humanity from extinction. You'd think somebody would thank me an be appreciative. But noooo!
And I've done so much for people.
I found a secret spell in the back of a book on weight lifting with kettle bells that promised as long as I said this special and super secret spell, that there would never be an elephant stampede in the state of Georgia and nobody would be trampled to death by elephants either.
And guess what? As long as I've been saying it, there have been no elephant stampedes or anybody in this state killed in an elephant stampede.
I'm just NOT appreciated.

Please don't insult elephants with such a derogatory comparison.
THOSE elephants and THOSE donkeys are the worst of the worst. The lowest of the low. The scum of the scum. Whoever wins. The people lose.

Re: Fall Equinox 2015
To be honest I kind of wonder if there's any point in voting. Sometimes it feels like I'm voting for either a clown or a jester. And everyone says I'm wasting my vote if I vote for the third party guys. I say give them a chance. I'm tired of the democrat and republican ping-pong balls. You're only wasting your vote if you vote for the lesser of two evils instead of who you really want.
But hey if you support one or the other, kudos to you. I respect your opinion.

Re: Fall Equinox 2015
I intend to vote in the upcoming Presidential election. If I dislike both the candidates, I intend to write someone in whom I like better. I will never just not vote. It's true that a third-party candidate, or a write-in, is not going to win, and that it will take away votes from whichever person you might have voted for of the two main parties. In the past I have voted for candidates about whom I felt little or no enthusiasm for that reason. However, I am done doing that. This next time around, I am literally going to vote my conscience, let the chips fall where they may. Too often I vote for people who then don't do what they said they were going to do when they get into office. I am done with that.
But I do feel an obligation to vote. I think just sitting it out is giving in to despair, and I won't do that.

Re: Fall Equinox 2015
You have a good point Murf. There's a reason I don't affiliate with any political parties. As far as I'm concerned I'm registered to vote...but I don't really know who to vote for, and I often don't take enough time or interest in researching the candidates.
For once I'd like to see an Independent or a Green party get voted in. That would be nice. I remember one time there were 4 different presidents to choose from when we did a mock election in Primary School. Now it's usually just between two.
I see your point Murf. Most politicians are corrupt. But I just don't know...I guess the Government is all discouraging to me. It's hard for me to find any enthusiasm, and as I research American history, I'm even less enthused. But it could be worse. Better here than the Middle East that's for sure!
Whoever I vote for would have to match my political views. Some of them are more conservative while others more liberal. I'm sort of in-between with many things.

Re: Fall Equinox 2015
I think it's true that most people are so busy making a living and dealing with various life issues they just don't have time to read a lot about politics or get to know the candidates well. And the TV and radio spots can be so brief and misleading. I fear that many of us choose a Presidential candidate with about the same level of knowledge and involvement that we might use to vote for American Idol.
I actually find American history inspirational, for the most part. I especially love to read about the founding generation. I think those people really understood human nature.
I usually do have a pretty good notion of the Presidential candidates and their positions on various issues, but I often don't know much about people in local elections. I have found that a quick internet search can be very helpful in those cases.
