How Morbid Are You?

Post by MauEvig » Wed Jun 17, 2015 11:06 am

Come on now, we're all haunters here. You'd have to be at least a little Morbid to be a big fan of Halloween! Mwahaha! Found this little quiz on Facebook. Kind of interesting.

Here's what I got:

Totally morbid
Totally
You are an extremely morbid, twisted and dark human being. You think about death a lot, and you are drawn to grotesque, creepy imagery whether it's on TV or in real life. Make sure you keep that stuff to yourself, you don't want to creep anyone out.

Yeah that sounds about right. :P

Try the quiz and see how Morbid you are. :P

I got Totally Morbid, too, with the same comment. But honestly, I'm wondering if the thing is rigged to say that no matter how you answer. When I saw those images of creepy animals, I clicked "none," and when they asked me what movie I'd prefer, I said The Addams Family. I said I preferred reading J K Rowling. I cannot imagine that everyone answered that way, or that my answers would really suggest that I was "Totally Morbid."

I actually did witness a fatal car crash once, when I was a child (maybe 9), and I didn't react in any of the ways they listed on that quiz.

Same here, I call shenanigans!
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Don't think I'd put much stock in an online quiz. Reminds me of a girl I knew in college. She was always taking those stupid quizzes in Cosmopolitan magazine that dealt with relationships. She judged her dates by how well they scored on Cosmo. Needless to say, she didn't get many dates. And she could never understand why?

I've seen many violent deaths over the past thirty years. I've taken life more than once. Enjoying Halloween and the things associated with it, does not make you a morbid person. For me Halloween is anything but morbid. Its escapism and fantasy. Nothing more. The monsters we deal with on Halloween are harmless. Its the monster who looks like your next door neighbor you need be concerned with.

I got 'Totally Morbid' also but I agree with the Kolchak. These quizzes are hockey pokey. How do I know I'm really morbid? After trying to pass it up a couple times yesterday I finally clicked on the video of the guy who got cut in half by the train. Was as bad as expected, though the thing that really bothered me was the people just standing there looking and taking video. I'd like to think I would have taken the initiative and put him out of his misery. I can't imagine someone could survive long like that. What do you think Kolchak? As someone who is most likely to deal with a situation like that, what would you do?

I absolutely agree. There is a comedic side to Halloween. I don't actually like the gruesome Halloween stuff. I am more into the eerie, the unsettling, and the funny. I like a lot of the same stuff that little kids like. And I love seeing the imagination that some people put into their costumes and their decorations. To me, it is the great holiday of imagination.

 I think the whole thing was meant to be a joke anyway.

Now granted, the idea of a monster with razor sharp teeth ripping someone's head clean off with a single bite sounds pretty scary to me. :P

I like the eerie stuff too; and I don't delve too much into the gruesome stuff. I might make a bloody looking sign or stuff like that, but I prefer a curtain with say, jack o lanterns, skeletons and black cats on it over one that's covered with blood.

When I worked at Sitel there was this girl who was a Coach there (Coaches are basically like the managers for each team) and she always got after me for everything, and I mean everything. But we both loved Halloween. Most of the stuff I brought in to decorate my own cubacle was cute little black cats and stuff, and pumpkins. Here she brought in body parts and other gruesome things to make it look like a horror movie scene. Despite the fact that we both loved Halloween, I thought it was a little hypocritical of her to bring in the more "gruesome" looking decorations.

The only thing morbid about me are my racing thoughts...and the fact that instead of being horrified by Nightmare on Elm Street or Jason Voorhees, I'm laughing through the whole movie. o.o

From a legal standpoint there isn't much you can do. While you could probably get away with ending someones suffering on a battlefield, it would be much harder to justify it in a civilian capacity as a law enforcement officer. Even if the man was begging you to shoot him, and it was all caught on film, there would be an attempt by someone or some group to find fault with what you did. As I'm sure you've noticed, there is an open season on police these days. Typical media wanting to start trouble without giving the whole story and political correctness running amok. Problem is people love to find people to hate. If I can make you a villain it keeps the masses from being concerned with their own problems.

I know of a case many years ago where a man was hauling gas in an 18 wheeler and wrecked. Gas spilled into the drivers cab and caught fire. the driver begged a state trooper to shoot him because he was burning alive. The trooper couldn't bring himself to do it. The man burned to death. A few years later the trooper committed suicide because of the guilt he felt from that day. It didn't even make the paper.

That's sad. My friend and I were at the library yesterday and some guy had a seizure. My first thought was don't touch him since people are so lawsuit happy these days. She immediately rushed over to him and rolled him on his side so he wouldn't swallow his tongue. She was smart enough to back off as soon as security showed up and wouldn't give them her name. The security guard actually told her you're not supposed to move him. She may have saved his life. It's a shame what our society has come to.

Speaking of, did you catch the one that happened out here a couple days ago (NSFW langua)? Turns out the kid beat on and bit the officer. He was like a wild animal. Did the person who uploaded that video show it? No! As far as I'm concerned, people who don't comply with an officer's orders deserve what they get. Oh yeah... the kid's parents apologized to the officer.

yes and no, I know this isnt the thread for this but, a lot of police officers make non-leagal, non-constitutional orders and hope you dont know your rights, so you do have to assert your rights for what you are legally required to comply with, of course you have to be smart about it and you better make sure you're right, and remember that cops have all sorts of little tricks to find out info including lieing to you to obtain info.....when in doubt, shut up, say "I'm not going to answer any more questions" and ask "am I free to go"......and always turn on your cell phone camera and record, it is not illegal to record the police in the course of their duties no matter what the cops say. only caveat is, you can not record them on the sly, they must know they are being recorded audio and video and they cant say boo about it.

Now before you jump to conclusions, no I am not a left wing, anti cop liberal, I come from a family of police officers and even worked as one for the Air Force (95th SPS) 91-97 so I totally support the police who act within their constitutional boundaries....

I'm sure nevermore was speaking rhetorically. Nobody is justifying illegal or improper behavior on the part of police. Least of all those of us who work as cops. But to automatically assume what you hear on the TV news or read in the paper about what happened in some city or state is also a mistake. In my life I have found the media to be wrong more often than right. They also have a clear bias and most definitely a political and social agenda that hides behind their so called first amendments rights.

Here in Georgia it is legal for someone to resist an illegal arrest. Up to and including using deadly/terminal force. At the end of the day 99.99% of all problems people have with police are due to the citizen doing something really stupid and a cop catching him doing it. Then the citizen feels he must get the last word in with the cop, and says or does something stupid that guarantees he gets arrested.

You don't want to go to jail? First don't be a moron and break the law. Second if you do break the law, and get caught. Shut your big mouth, get your ticket and then go to court and fight it.

Hardly a day goes by without some dunder head, feeling like he needs to get some type of victory over the cop...who would not have pulled him over in the first place if chowderhead hadn't been doing something stupid and illegal in the first place, gets arrested for starting a fight over something he didn't have to.

For the record. The UCMJ is much easier to enforce than civilian law enforcement. Soldiers, sailors, marines and even the branch we call the air force, don't have the same rights as private citizens. Although I'm still waiting for confirmation that the air force is actually part of the military. I was told that Lackland AFB, was a good place to go to have your nails and hair done.

Ahhh... but as Jack Reacher said, everyone he dealt with was a trained killer.
