Re: Mmmmm... beer!
Currently drinking a pumpkin beer from a local brewery, Hess Brewery. Magna Cucurbita. Its a stout beer, very heavy but OH SO GOOD! It's so heavy, I can barely pick it up. Drum roll please? Doesn't have the cinnamony pumpkin taste of Pumpkinhead and it's ilk but it really hits the spot. Probably helps much that it's 7.6?

Drinking on some Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Always buy a few 6pks during the fall season.

I have a fridge full of pumpkin bees that I can't enjoy since I'm on antibiotics. Nevermore the Magna Cucurbita sound tasty. I've had the Blue Moon Harvest Ale before and was hoping for more pumpkin to shine through.

Probably shouldn't open the fridge door. Don't want those bees to get out and sting you. Are pumpkin bees orange and black? Never seen one.
You should be able to find Pumking back east. It's supposedly the pumpkinest of pumpkin beers. Everyone says it's the best.

You don't want to mess with pumpkin bees! I have a bottle of Pumpking it is perhaps my favorite. I also picked up a bottle of Warlock which is made by the same brewery but is a high gravity stout. I am very much looking forward to it. I also have on hand some Shipyard Pumpkinhead which I haven't tried though I hear good things about and another 4 pack of Dogfish Head pumpkin Ale which was fantastic. I'd say in league with Pumpking.

Re: Mmmmm... beer!
Seems Shipyard Pumpkinhead has sold out in our town. I just picked up the last two six packs available at the local BevMo stores. They said they ordered more but it won't get here for the big event. Did manage to pick up some Saranac Pumpkin Ale and Rouge Farms Pumpkin Patch Ale though. Still like to get my lips on some of that Pumking beer. I wish Amazon sold beer. Do they?!?
No But you can get soap made out of it. That's one time I wouldn't mind washing my mouth out with soap.

The girl at the third BevMo I stopped at said they had a taste testing last Friday which is why there was a run on it. The secret is out. I've been buying it since it first showed up on this coast.

Just popped the top now that things have settled down. I tasted it right out of the bottle, which is really cool btw, then poured it into a snifter. Chose that glass because I figured it would contain the aroma and enhance the taste a bit. Color is light brown with a hint of orange, semi clear. Muddy white head, dissipated fairly quick.
This beer is not your pumpkin pie variety, like Pumpkinhead and Pumking, though it definitely has a strong pumpkin taste and smell. Think I'm also tasting nutmeg, some cinnamon, and something else. Can't place it.
Ever breathed in a pumpkin that has been burning from the candle? Something I got a lot of tonight. You can almost taste the pumpkin? That's the aftertaste I'm getting.
Overall? I like it. Wouldn't kick it out of the frigerator for taking up space.

Currently imbibing a honey orange wheat from Hess Brewery. Yum! Thought about getting more of the Magna Cucurbita but the time for pumpkin beer has passed. Well... I may pick up more Pumpkinhead if it's available, save it for Thanksgiving.
