Re: What would You be?
I'm always deeply ambivalent on questions like these. I understand it's all meant in fun, and the lore of Halloween is wide and deep and has many benevolent spirit/being types associated with it. Two of my favorites, scarecrows and werewolves, both have lore that associates them as protectors as well as predators. And I would probably chose werewolf as a protector.
However, I just can't bring myself to, even as a game, say I would want to be something that hurts people. The werewolf as vicious predator is interesting as a story, but not something I would identify with.
As I said, I get Halloween is partially about fear and the supernatural and play acting at being something you're not. And I don't have a problem with people who play this aspect. I do realize it's all in good fun. It's just for me, I would rather be the protector.
So, yeah. Werewolf, Awooo. Though scarecrows are, of course, wicked cool too.

We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.

Witchy! That's cheating. You're always a witch. Your sposed to be something you're not, which means I can't be a dashing, debonair man about town. Maybe I'll be a hobo.

Ghost.
I hope that there is a life after this one and would prefer to stay Earthbound because the two other choices are either terrifying or mind-numbingly boring.

All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

If I were to choose what type of Halloween character I would be, I would have to say a witch. They can go in so many different directions. They can be wise old crones or beautiful young enchantresses. I wouldn't want to be a mean witch, though.
It might be interesting to be a soothsayer, too.

Re: What would You be?
A lot depends on which lore the character/monster comes from. E.g. For vampires, think about the difference between Twilight Vampires vs Buffy Vampires vs Dracula vampires vs medieval vampires in general vs ... . Ditto for many of the others. (Over thinking it I'm sure!)

I think i'd kill to live the life of Gomez Addams
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Re: What would You be?
That's a tough choice to make, but I am partial towards the wearwolf, so if I could be a real Halloween monster for the 'big day,' I would be a wearwolf, and howl all through the night as I cruise down the road on my "Midnight Halloween Motorcycle Ride."
