I'm about to watch 'Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt '. New at Red Box this week.

I've heard of it. I think there may have been an earlier TV series about it, too, maybe in the '80s? I did watch the earlier one a little, but not this more recent one.

Earlier today I watched Merlin. I have several seasons on DVD, and the newest one is running on SyFY (tonight I believe). I love this show.

have you ever seen the original 1980's TV series?

Also, have you ever seen The Twilight Zone "To Serve Man"?

If you are on the wrong coast you should be watching Hocus Pocus right now. It's on tonight at 8:30 here so it should be on right now on the east coast. Disney Channel. A nice touch of Halloween in the middle of the winter.

My husband says that the boy in Hocus Pocus (the one who transforms into a cat) is now a regular on NCIS. I have never checked the name, but my husband is usually right in his IDs.

If I can find my DVD, later today I'll watch Groundhog Day.

My daughter is taking French, so I have been checking out French-language films for her. I found one a week or so back called "They Came Back," which is a zombie picture. (Les Revenants in French). Has anyone else seen it? It isn't so much scary, but more thought-provoking, I guess, about how people might react if their recently dead loved ones suddenly showed up again. And the zombies aren't exactly normal. Not threatening, either, but sort of catatonic. I must say I didn't entirely understand the climax, though. The zombies all get together and blow up the town. I didn't really understand why they did that.

Hi Murf, how old is your daughter? My favorite French film is Amelie (which I think a lot of people love). It is R-rated and that's why I was asking. It's pretty harmless though. There's also another Audrey Tautou film I liked called Priceless. If she likes scary films, I saw one a few years ago called Them. For some reason it just scared the hell out of me (people breaking into a young couple's home--gives me the creeps).

When I had Netflix, I watched foreign films all the time. I have to say though that France didn't always have the greatest movies. There were a handful that I liked, but the best films seemed to always come from either Germany, Spain, or Mexico.

She's 14, so I am previewing the movies for her. Not so sure about a French R-rated movie! I'd have to see it. Obviously it doesn't have to be Disney stuff for her, but I am uncertain of the French movie standards. I checked one out for her a couple of weeks ago (The Girl from Paris, I've forgotten the French title), that was all about a young woman giving up her conventional life in Paris to become a goatherd in the Rhone-Alps. Sounded pleasant, and the panoramas of that area were breath-taking. However, there were two scenes of animal slaughter in it that were clearly not faked. My daughter would have freaked. No American film would have shown something like that.

So far the ones I've come across that I've liked the best for her are La Gloire de mon Pere, Jean de Florette, and Manon Des Sources. All of those, coincidentally, were based on writings by Marcel Pagnol.
