December 21, 2012 - Doomsday?

Post by NeverMore » Sat Sep 17, 2011 2:56 pm

I started this thread so we could discuss, not argue, the possibility that the Mayans are right. What I write below is what I've cobbled together from various things I've read and seen. It's almost like a puzzle. It can be really tough filtering through the really wacky theories, but like Fox Mulder said, "The truth is out there".
Jack Skellington wrote:It could be the last trip many of us do if we are to believe the December 21st 2012 end of the world prediction!

How many times is it the world should have ended now since the new millennium?
There are actually numerous predictions and scenarios going on right now that suggest these are the end times. Maybe they are all connected? The rub being, no one knows for sure if this is really the year 2011. Records may have gotten mixed up during the dark ages. It could be the year 2000, or even 1711, as counted from the date that Jesus dude was born.

One of the scenarios I've been tracking is that there may be an object, about 4 times the size of Jupiter, coming close to our solar system. This may be a brown dwarf star, making our system a binary system. Most star systems do have 2 suns. The article says 27 million years but if it's on an elliptical orbit that could be much less. Also, an object that size coming closer to Earth would have unsettling effects on the planet, like disrupted weather patterns and increased geologic activity. Hmmm... glad that's not happening <sarcasm>.

Something that size would also dislodge a lot of objects orbiting the system. Comet Elenin will be coming very close to the Earth next month. In fact, Earth will be going right through it's debris field. The last 2 times this comet has been aligned with Earth and the sun there has been a large earthquake, Japan and Chili. The next alignment is at the end of this month. If there is another large quake at the end of this month it'll give this idea that the comet itself is affecting the planet a lot more credence.

One thing is for sure, there is something out there. You can look it up yourself on Google Sky. You'll need to install the infra-red filter to Google Earth. The guy that did the video thinks that Comet Elenin is the brown dwarf but if something that big was this close to Earth, we'd be able to see it.

I think, assuming any of this is real, the reason these predictions exist at all is because the ancients most likely went through it themselves. Ever hear of Noah's flood? They spent a lot of time after that watching the skies and building observatories. They probably had a pretty good idea when these events would happen again.

Oh... another reason I started looking into all this? Besides the unusual weather and geologic activity? I saw a show on History Channel, they did a segment on underground bunkers and bomb shelters. The people who install these things say business has never been better. Why? Guess where most of the fallout shelters are being built in the USA... Washington DC. This is apparently going on in other countries. What aren't our leaders telling us? Did the terrorists get hold of nuclear weapons? Or was Ronald Reagan trying to let the cat out of the bag when he mentioned a threat from outer space?

All I really care about is that we get another Hallowe'en under our belt if it is all true.

Glad you started this. The reason i did the  was because of the amount of different things we've read/heard over the years. Here's what I think.

The object to which you refer is PlanetX/Nibiru. I've also read a little on the subject. The top astronomers & NASA say it doesn't exist - but they would say that anyway! If I remember correctly The Mayans plotted it's course as every 2000 years or so? It's very interesting. I've started seeing a bright light in the sky on a clear night that i've never seen before & i'm always looking up. Without a doubt it's a planet. Could that be it?

I've heard of Comet Elenin. Again they tell us that there's nothing out of the ordinary here with that either.

I know what you mean though about the weather & geological activity. It makes you wonder. Some people believe it is all the work of HAARP.

Some say the Alien's will invade on this date - like in The X Files.

I've also read & heard that this date is when the New World Order will arise. A global dictatorial government that will enslave the masses.

To touch on what you said about underground bunkers. Have you heard about Denver Airport? Apparently it didn't warrant having a new airport of that size. People say it was used as a disguise to build underneath it. (Which would make sense if true, as if you build on top, people aren't gunna know what's being built underneath.) There's supposed to be a huge network of underground bunkers there. Apparently various celebrities or elite people including the Queen of England have purchased land in and around Denver Airport. Very interesting.

Do you believe something is going to happen NeverMore?

The thing that I find very interesting is what you've already said about all the weather & geological activity. It's not just earthquakes on the geological front though. Look at all the recent volcano activity too! As you mentioned the gravitational pull from a planet/comet could quite easily disrupt things like that.

Interesting discussion. I have thought for a while that many of the end-times signs from the book of Revelation are coming together. However, Jesus said no one could foretell the day or the hour, not even him! So I don't stress over it.

I know my children would like to have full adult lives, so for their sakes I hope it isn't happening too soon.

NeverMore, you wouldn't believe how many times the world was supposed to end jusst within my own life time. Startint with the eyar I was born, which was 1960. Then everyone thought it was going to end when the Cuban Missile Crises took place. Then there was all the talk at the highs chool I attended about the world ending in 1980, 1988, 1996, 1997 and 2000.

Murf has a point. Only God the Father knows the exact day and time that it's going to happen.

The current estimate is that for 150,000 people each day, the world does indeed come to an end.

Perhaps I can make myself a quick fortune selling "Mayan Prophecy End of the World" survival kits. Some one really made a killing 11 years ago selling Y2K survibval kits. Everything in that so called 'survival' kit could have been had for a fraction of the cost, too. Even the portable generator that kit included was only 500 watts power rated. I found a 2500 watt rated portable generator for about 250 dollars less then what the one in that kit was selling for.

Undoubetedly, there is going to be an exxtreamly rare astronomical event on december 12 2012,but that does not mean the world is going to come to an end. It's going to be a bonanza for astronomers world wide. This particular alignment only happens once very 4 thousand years or so (if I'm not mistaken). As for the Mayan calender, it probably ends on that particular day, for the same reason why we don't have a February 30th, or a January 32nd.

I happen to believe that was just as far as the Mayans got in calculating the dates when they were suddenly eviscerated by the Aztecs... Somehow, I find it slightly more poetic to picture it as unfinished work... and even more Halloween-related to think of that scene at the top of the Aztec pyramid in Apocalypto... Mmmmm. Heads will rolll.

As for objects in space entering Earth's atmosphere.... and lies of astronomers and those people... If the general public knew how many objects approached Earth on a daily basis, people would be crying "impending destruction of Earth" every day. All day. So says my husband who works with astronomers. Apparently, there are a lot of objects that burn up trying to enter Earth's atmosphere. =)

Jadewik, all kinds of objects enter our atmosphere, but thay usualy never make it to the ground, or even into the inner atmosphere. And, it isn't just NASA, but every credible astronimer who denies the existance of Planet X.

One article that I read says that the Earth's magnetic poles are going to switch, and that interaction with the sun's magnetic field will cause the Earth to rotate onit's axes. Well, I also heard, and I don't know if thats true or not, that the sun changes it's magnetic poles several times a year, so if that was true, the earth would be turning on it's axes every time the sun's poles changed.

So here's another list of so called 'end of the world' predictions that I was around for:

The world was supposed to end in 1960.

The Cuban Misile Crises was supposed to take out the world in 1962, and a lot of people were hiding in shelters during that crises

There was a religious group who believe that the world was supposed to end in 1975.

When I was in high school, the world was said to come to an end in 1980.

Naustrodamus, according to various interpretations, preducted that a world wide famine would break out in 1986, and that California would break off and sink into the Pacific in 1988.

Again, according to various interpretations of the quatrains of Naustrodamus, a 27 year long nuclear war was supposed to break out between the U .S. and the Middle East, and an aliance between the U.S. and Russia was supposed to end it.

The Y2K bug was supposed to completely obsolete our entire civilization at the stoke of midnight on January 1, 2000.

An major earthquake was supposed to obliterate the entire West Coast in 2010.

Now the world is supposed to end in 2012

And a comet is supposed to hit the earth and devistate it in 2016.

I think all of the above can pretty much be summed up in one work.

MILARKY!!!!

I believe the thing about California breaking off into the Pacific was also a big rumor in the late '60s. They just revived that one for the '80s.

This is why my membership in the Quartzsite, Arizona Yacht Club is so awesome-- when California finally falls into the ocean, I'll be able to hang out at the club sippin' lemonade and catching some sun. Woo!

Mike- I trust the scientists/astronomers my husband works with... and I really place little value on Nostradamus' prophecies because they really never make sense until someone interprets them AFTER some historical event kinda-sorta matches what Nostradamus wrote down way-back-when. =)

I don't trust Nostradamus' predictions either. I read in a paper after 9/11 that he apparently predicted that too!

These kind of stories will never go away though. There will always be people saying the world is gunna end on a certain date.

I agree. All we can do is hope for the best.
