Re: Hot Dog Contest
I'm not really into the really exotic styles of hot dogs, and I dont like veal, either. I like good, all-beef hot dogs, or regular bratwurst. I also like to load up a good Chicago steamed hot dog with mustard, pickle relish, choped onins. and a little cucumbers and tomatos.

Hey Midnight Shadow: I was born and raised in Chicago, too. I greq up on 111th and Polaski, in the Mt. Greenwood area. It was a grat stomping ground, and the home of the very last farm to be located within the Chicago city limits.

Ok, anyways.... did anyone try Sabrett skinless hot dogs before? Are they really good?
Also, did anyone try Carolina Dog before? It comes with grilled onions, BBQ sauce and pulled pork BBQ in it! I've never tasted it!

I can't say that I ever did. I am mainly familiar with Oscar Meyer, Vienna and Best Kosher, all of which are great on the grill or great steamed Chicago Style.

One trip I am going to make on my new Harley is up to my old neighborhood. There's a hot dog place, that's still in business, who still serves one of the finest Chicago style hot dogs you could ever eat. Vienna brand hot dogs is what he uses. He steams them slowly so they are nice and tender, and he loads them up with just about everything you could want.

Re: Hot Dog Contest
You all sound like hot dog connoisseurs!
My family likes Ball Parks. We used to buy Oscar Meyer all the time, but then discovered Ball Parks, which to us taste better.
And my favorite way to eat a hot dog is grilled, with brown mustard and sauerkraut. The best hot dog I ever ate in my life I bought on a chilly day on the Mall in D.C., and it was covered in sauerkraut.

That actualy sounds like it woudl taste pretty good. I've had Polish Sausage and Bratwurst smotherd in Saurkraut, and I loved it.
As for grilling hot dogs, I gree. Grilling is a great way, though Chicago Style Steamed hot dogs rank a very close 2nd. I also love to roast hot dogs on an open fire. I have weenie roasts in m living room fire place during the Winter time, and in the Summer time I'll build a wood fire and roast hot dogs out in my back yard. A wood fire gives it a great smokey flavor. If there's no wood available, lump charcoal will also work.

Anyone tried a foot long hot dog called Sabrett? I saw it in NC, but I've never tried it. Is it good?

There's a restaurant chain called Bozo's. It's more or less hot dog's answer to McDonalds. They use to serve foot long hot dogs, but they went with steamed jumbo hotdogs instead, and IMHO they tasted much better. The Bozo's in Morris Ill also serves Bratwurst, Polish Sausage, Italian Suasage and Tamalies.

I never heard of Weinershitchel. Sounds like it would be a nice place to try out. Perhaps when I make my next 'haunted road trip' I'll run into it.
Where is it located?
