Me and my wife went and bought a couple pumpkins this weekend. It's become our tradition to carve our first jack o lantern of the year while watching It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown :D These pumpkins were HARD. My wrist still hurts from trying to cut through it.

There's nothing as great as cutting open that first pumpkin of the year. The smell takes me back to my childhood everytime 8)

My first one of the year always has to be the traditional jack o lantern. I usually go through about 10 a year, a lot of which will have different designs. I love some of the stuff Martha Stewart had this year. I'll probably try some of her ideas.

These two pumpkins rotted already. Only took 2 days for 'em to turn black and mushy.

Wow you got a really early start on the Jack O lanterns, but I have to say they look great. I'll porobably carve my first either this weekend or next week sometime. I usually go with the traditional, classic JOL with the triangle eyes and mouth, and the jagged mouth.

I also know what you mean about the smell. Nothing beats the smell of a fresh pumpkin, and it smells even better after it has been roasting for a little while with a candle in in

Yeah I went to Whole Foods and they had hay bales with pumpkins and gords on them outside in the front of the store. I couldn't resist.

I notice you like the traditional traiangular eyes and nose. I do too. In fact, I have to have at least two TRADITIONAL jack o'lanterns in my house flickerign in thenight during the Halloween season. I really love the one that was shown on "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown."

Yep I'm a strong traditionalist when it comes to Halloween. I do the designs that come with the carving kits as well, but they never compare to the traditional jack o lanterns.
