It is finally Fall!

Today is finally the day when I can start celebrating Fall and the Halloween Season! I am getting all the stuff that I have to do early in order to celebrate the season and put out decorations later tonight. The scarecrow is coming along great as well and so are the pumpkins! I can tell this year will be a blast!
How are you preparing?

We are building the backdrop for Beetlejuice today ....or starting it anyway.. Running late and starting to panic! Have purchased all the candy for the TOT's (in case you don't remember, we get 250+ so not a small undertaking)
I just finished the head of the sandworm...it's passable. Husband built the body, but it needs painted still.
I'm starting a new job on Tuesday, part time, but with a full time training week, so I won't have much time in the next few weeks beyond today to prepare anything else.

SIEFKA, next week I will start putting my Halloween decor out, I can't wait!!! 
johnsoneliza52, don't panic, it will all get done and you always do an amazing job, I love the Beetlejuice theme!!!

I have started putting out a few decorations, but mainly I am cleaning up my yard for the TOTers.

Well, I am excited about October being less then a week away, and about Halloween being just around the corner, but Fall is allways followed by Winter, so I am not really looking forward to it as much as I use to. Last Winter was long, cold and boring. To boot, I spend 5 days in the hospital last February because of my ulcer. Fall is nice, but it's also a clear indication that the weather is starting to degenerate and is going to start getting worse before it starts getting better come next March.
On the bright side, I am really stoked for a fun Halloween.

I just love fall, and this year I seem to have lost my mind over the various cookbooks and magazines. I guess I am uber-ready to start cooking autumnal fare! I don't really mind winter so much, but of course, in the South, it isn't as severe as it can be elsewhere.

We've been experiencing the driest year on record in Northern California , 4 inches since January .
So when the skies opened up last Saturday I opened up the doors and windows and made a pot of beef stew.
It really felt like fall!

Send some of that rain here down here! I hate to waste the water but I've been spraying the tress and bushes. They're looking pretty bad. Been pretty chilly the last couple nights. I actually had to close the doors and windows. Definitely feels like fall. Went from super hot to chilly in less than a month. Now the Santa Annas are going to come though. Fire season is coming.

One thing that I have noticed about fall is that I am very traditional and I try to find the absolutle perfect moment to just let the Halloween spirit take over me. My plan for fall is this. All year long I will prepare the yard haunt, then the last few weeks of september I will pull out decorations and once october starts I will watch movies, listen to music and haunted houses! I cannot wait for this year!

I'm getting bummed about the days getting shorter. Still have a lot of work to do outside that I wanted to get done this year. Oh well... not like there isn't tons of work to do inside.

Yeah I try to not do so much before October so that I can make sure that I won't get burned out before the big day comes. I always keep asking myself do I have the spirit, do I have the spirit? I keep looking to see if I do when in reality I just have to let myself go and it always comes naturally!

I do love the Fall, but again, I can live without January and February.
Murf, this weekend, I am going to try my hand at making Oreo Balls. I'll post the recipe int he Halloween Recipe thread.
Ans yes, I am STOKED, and I might even be meeting up with some one this Saturday for a 'haunted road trip.' I realize I've been saying that for a year now, but it does appear that I just might have a break in my work schedule and a few extra bucks to spend on gas, and if I can take the Harley, WOOO HOOO!!
