Thanks for posting the link. That does look like a cool restaurant. The food looks pretty good, too. Where is this place located?

Re: Count Dracula Website
same here. but man does that place look cool!
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

It does look cook. and some of the food items look good, too. I have to wonder, though if the food is as good as the atmosphere at that resturant.

Re: Count Dracula Website
I would hope so. I have seen businesses that offer product and environment that do tend to steer more one way than the other. PC's Margaritaville is a good example. Great environment. OK food. but for the price. it makes the ok food a bad decision. but when doing the "tourist" thing in Panama City, its a MUST!

I've been to many restaurants like that. Either themed or famous but the food turns out to be... meh.

That's more or less what I thought, too interms of the food. Those type of restaurants are more for atmosphere then it is for quisine. It would still be neat to visit, but I can only imagine the food would be mediocre, all though on the menu it looked pretty good.
That's why I didn't like Chucy Cheases. It's a great place for little kids to play and have a good time but their pizza is mediocre at best.

Sometimes I miss my children not being so little anymore, but one thing I definitely don't miss are those Chucky Cheese birthday parties, whether theirs or their friends'. Lousy pizza, and so much distraction everywhere!Pumpkin_Man wrote:

I think it is generally true that the themed restaurants sell the theme, not the food.

Re: Count Dracula Website
I would love to sample the food, but I will warn you. I visited the formor Yougoslavia (Croatia today) back in 1985 and 1986, and while the scenery, people and trip in general were fabulous, the food was PUTRED, and I mean PUTRED. Bread, snack chips, candy and some cheeses are all I could stand of the food there. The meat was horrid, and very much to be avoided. I had a hamburger there that was more like a hockey puck then a beef patty, but at least the bread it was served on was edible. Barely.
As for themed restaurants, I agree. For the most part, it's all about the theme, not the food. I did go to one theme restaurant that had good food, however. It was a sports bar and grill. I don't remember the name of the place, but the whole place was about what ever sports teams were playing, withone notable exception. They had a barbecue menu that was out of this world. As for Chucky Cheases, I've been to a couple of those parties with my nieces and nephews. The pizza was lousy as you described. Flaverless, the red sauce tasted more like katsup, and the noise level was madening.

Re: Count Dracula Website
Of all themed restaurants, I'd think a sports bar might have the best chance to have decent food. Those places cater to men, who generally like to have good meat dishes, at least.
I haven't been to Europe in many years, and I have never been to Croatia. However, I think when you are in a foreign country you do well to eat the local dishes. Hamburgers in Croatia are probably not a local specialty. They were probably trying to feed you the way they think Americans like to eat. You'd probably fare better with whatever stews or dishes the natives like. And, yes, European bread is to die for! You can make a great meal off of bread, cheese, and wine.
