Well, we had no takers for the 'castle' we built for last

Halloween, and we are getting tired of having it on the side yard. I think we are going to keep a selection of the wall pieces and toss the rest! I just know, though, that as soon as we start working on this years Halloween, we will be kicking ourselves for throwing any of it away...What to do, what to do!

We normally do...we have a friend that runs a charity haunted house every year, but he doesn't have the space for it. I might advertise it on craigslist for free, though...good idea!

Too bad you don't live here near the border. Anything, and I mean anything, we don't want the Mexicans will come and take back south. That castle you built could become someone's house in one of the shanty towns.

I took your advice and posted the castle up for grabs on Craigslist. I had over 50 responses! Thanks for the suggestion! The castle is on its way to a new home!

I'm glad you found a home for your awesome castle. Too bad you didn't keep it though--you could age it a bit and turn it into Dracula's castle for Halloween this year :)

I know, I'll be kicking myself I'm sure. I've been tossing around ideas for this year already. Nothing has hit home yet. This time last year, we were already paper macheing our little hearts out on the castle. Is anyone else planning this year yet?

I've already tentatively set aside October 31st and November 1st to take off from work and put in the paper work. I also am thinking in terms of filling an inflatable with helium, but I don't know what the cost factor is going to be. I also do want to make a couple of 'haunted road trips" in October of this year, but I said exactly the same thing about last year, and it ended up that I didn't have the money or the time. My photo schedule for Oct of last year was quite busy. I am hoping to get to a couple of haunted places in Indiana in early October, while it's still warm enough to take the motorcycle, but I'll most likely be doing most if not all of my traveling, "haunted" or other wise during the Summer months.

Of course, I do plan to have a bon fire in my back yard and invite a couple of buddies of mine, but that will be during an October weekend, not on Halloween itself.

Food wise, if the weather holds up, I am seriously considering barbecuing a standing rib roast, instead of the usual hot dog roast in the fire place. Again, money will play a major role in that, but I have had barbecues on Halloween before, and they allways turned out good. I allways plan it so the meat will be done before ToT starts.

Then there are my main traditions of givingout ToT candy, watching horror movies, primarily the Uniersal Monster classics, and my Midnight Halloween Motorcycle Ride.

That's pretty much all the planning I have done for Haloween 2012, so far. Other plans will be made as the day draws closer.

Mike

I'll probably just be doing the usual--setting up my yard haunt, passing out candy, watching a scary movie. I do think that this year I'm going to recruit the next door neighbor to haunt their yard as well. I have enough stuff for both yards, so hopefully the neighborhood will have a little more of a pulse this Halloween :)

Yeah us too. Will probably add a prop or two like we do every year.
