New Tradition

Post by NeverMore » Thu Sep 08, 2011 2:02 am

I'm going to give my roommate Ray Bradbury's 'The Halloween Tree' since she's never heard of it either. Spooky! What's wrong with you guys?

Literary rock star Neil Gaiman wants you to give a book to someone this Halloween. The writer, best known for his Sandman series of comics but also famous for novels such as Stardust and American Gods, and safely scary movies such as Coraline – and for being married to Amanda Palmer, a musical rock star – is trying to start a new Halloween tradition, All Hallow’s Read. That is a good tradition! A person could read late at night, after the masquerade & TOT are over. . . .

I already sent it to you. Didn't know your exact address so you can pick it up at the county library.

It is a very good read. I didn't like the cartoon version very much, mainly because of Leonard Nimoy's voice of the old man.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I like to think of 'The Halloween Tree' as 'A Christmas Carol' for Halloween. A bit scary but good to read to older kids.

Here's the book I would get for myself. Too bad it won't be released in time for this Halloween.

The book follows an adult Danny Torrance as he puts his powers to good use and has a run-in with psychic vampires.
