I believe that squirrel preached the truth. I hope he makes another video about that.

I completely agree with most of it. (Esp the part about non-costumed trick or treaters!) However, I do believe the cutesy stuff is important too, for the tiny kiddos. I'm a mother of a two year old girl, so I'm biased, but I don't think scaring the bejeebus out of her is necessary at this age. She can enjoy all the scary stuff she wants when she is a little older, but for now I just want her to have fun and love Halloween. :)

I can understand that, but in your case you can choose which house to take her too. If there's an elaborate setup at one particular house that you think might scare your child, don't take her there. I'm tired of hearing about parents taking their children up to houses that are obviously set up for adult ToT'ers and then blaming the fact that their children got freaked out on the homeowners.

we like to do a marginally spooky set up but when someone with small kids come, my wife will go out to the child, give them a glow bracelet and candy and not "make" them go through the set up.

All I meant was that the cute stuff has it's place too. I never meant to imply that people should bend over backwards not to scare my kid. I'm smart enough to know what would probably scare her, and I would never blame the homeowner if it did. After all, I'm the one walking her around the neighborhood!

Yeah, that's true. I didn't mean you directly when I mentioned parents, but some folks are dumb as hell. I've seen upset parents scolding homeowners because their setup scared their child. I like Spooky's idea. The kids still get to have fun without having the pee scared out of em.

No harm done Castle :D . I know what you mean about those kind of parents. I'm pretty sure my ex's mom was one...and he was 25!

Agree with this completely.

When my son was two we made sure he wasn't scared & just had fun. Now at four he absolutely loves Halloween & doesn't mind the odd mild scare! :)

The scares can get scarier now as he gets older although my wife & I will still make sure that for now at least he doesn't have the bejeebus scared out of him!
