You can bie on it. Halloween is a month long celebration, not just one day. Tradition calls for having 'Trick or Treat' on the actual day, but that doesn't mean that we can't have parties, bonfires, decorations and other fun through out the rest of the month.
I am going to have a Halloween bonfire in my back yard, go on a Halloween themed motorcycle trip to an abandoned insane asylum in Peoria Ill, go to at least two haunted attractions or spook houses, and the decorations are going up before the 30th of Sept so I'm prepared.

Halloween and the ancient pagan customs from which it was derived pre-date Christianity, and have survived plagues, mass migrations, and outright attacks from unfriendly forces. Folklorists will tell you that this holiday isn't going anywhere!

Come to think of it, I saw a documentery on the History Channel that clearly pointed out that Halloween is actualy growing in popularity. Unfortunately, some of the traditions that I love, like Trick or Treat may die out because of fear mongering, but I seriously doubt that Halloween will ever completely die off in our life times.

Halloween is still extremely popular here in my neck of the woods, but I always do my part.

October, November and December are the three months of the year when TRADITION is most important. Halloween, is Octobers TRADITION, and many other people who enjoy TRADITION as much as I do will allways at least carve one pumpkin.
Like I said, we may see 'Trick or Treat' go the way of the provervial dinasaur, but Halloween will allways be with in one form or another.
