Halloween Props - Offensive?

Post by Haunt Master » Fri May 30, 2008 12:26 am

Just wanted to get some input. Last year, one of the halloween props in VA regarding a Baptist Reverend who is protesting a family's Halloween decorations on their front porch, more specifically, some hanging props . He said it is offensive in light of what happened in Jena, Louisiana and wants it taken down. He called the police department who showed up and the house where no one apparently there right now.

So, should I not put out my Halloween on yard haunt on the day before Halloween?

Well...it's a free country.

I'm old-fashioned and don't go for gory stuff in my decorating, but it's up to you. :?:

Some of my friends, neighbors, and my girlfriend say "Go ahead and put everything there no matter what!" But I am thinking I really don't want a bunch of angry people protesting outside my house, hmmm, or do I? Hey, I might get publicity and get some video footage of our Haunt! hee hee

Last year I did some internet research and it looks like there have been news of complaints also in Indiana, Tennessee, Wisconsin, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, and Massachusetts. In every instance, these families removed the props. This world has become so politically correct - it makes me sick! First, they were trying to push the "Let's give out healthy snacks on Halloween, and not give out the candy, but give out raisins and figs". Come on people! Lighten up! It's Halloween, Halloween happens only once a year, the holiday is based on the dead, that includes ghosts, spirits, grim reapers, yes Death! :D

Hmm...that at and spirtual renewal.

If they don't appreciate your point of view they should remain quiet, and vice-versa. :)

I hate people who are offended by everything. Hey, life is not perfect! It seems like everyone expects everything to be perfect in every possible way. It makes me sick! If someone does not like someones decorations they don't have to look at them! They can mind there own business!

Yeah, you're right! I guess I have to decorate my props in my yard at my own RISK!!!

If things are too gruesome, then they have to look the other way. They are only kids once! And, in my case every Halloween! ;)

I think it's more like they want everyone to be exactly like they are so that they don't have to make an effort to live in a real community, just a bunch of robots.

Maybe the 'Body-Snatchers' were real....?!?! :o

And Halloween is once a year. Do not ruin it for everyone! Let kids be kids and eat candy. Candy will never hurt anyone if they eat healthy dinners walk everyday and brush there teeth too. Hand out candy!

even the least expensive candy is a hundred times better than the fanciest health-food.

Especially at Halloween!!! :D

BTW RDM: How did you add the animated gif to your signature? I've tried everything I could and I can't seem to be able to do that !
