Halloween Discussion Forums, Costumes, Horror!

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we. I thought it might be nice to rekindle some old and neat ideas by taking a look at where we all began: our first posts. It might encourage some of the newer members to do some further research and if nothing else we might get a good laugh….. and maybe a bit of a tear. There was one ‘first post’ that did just that for me and forget it…. I’m not sayin which one!

In so many ways, we truly are like one big family and this might just be the closest thing we have to perusing our family album.

So, here it is. I looked up members with the total amount of posts, in order of descent and those whom have posted at least 300 times then linked their first posts below.
Now, granted, I’m only going by what the Membership lists are telling me. I have no idea if certain posts have been deleted or erased for some reason. I’m assuming that what I find is indeed the member’s very first post.

The top poster, coming in at over 6000 posts is our dear Halloweencom. Unfortunately, most of his posts are gone and irretrievable.

MHooch – is one of our most highly respected veterans of the board, so when DOD started referring to her as ‘Mamma’ Hooch, I followed suit and it stuck from there on out.

Spooky – This is certainly one of the more interesting first posts. ‘I found a tombstone of a 2 year old boy in my yard and we dug him up!!!’ (OH THE HUMANITYYYY!) As dark as that might seem, Spooky is as bright of a star in our group as any!

I B Howlin Wolfman – Never shy and always entertaining, he quickly established himself as a solid and integral part of the group. It’s REALLY hard to believe he hasn’t even been with us for two months, yet. Is that a typo??? “WHO SAID TYPE O?”

Cadaverino – Bright, intelligent and funny when he needs to be. Cad is never one to mince words or never shy about telling it like it is. However, his first post does give us an insight as to what a softy he really is. “I love you, man!!!” *hick*

Kallie0509 - Joined our little group on my birthday and what a birthday present to the whole group she turned out to be. You can tell right away in her first post just how feisty and eager she was to get started once she'd found us here. How could you not fall in love with her right away!!!

Where did you get idea like that? How did you figure that out? I'm curious.

Well, you see, Hauntmaster, I am the TRUE master of the board! I know all and I see everything. No one can do, think, say or post anything without my knowing about it. While a member is on Halloween.com their very soul belongs to me. I know what you post, how you post and I know where everything comes from. NOTHING gets by ME!

*Eh-hem*....... No. Really. I just went to the membership list and sorted the names by 'total posts' in order of descent. Then, I just click on a members name which bring up their profile. From there, you can click on 'Total Posts by', scroll to the bottom of the page and go to the last page. Again, scroll to the bottom of the page and that first entry is that members first post. It's easy.

But, I STILL know everything you do!

Hmm... that's very interesting thing to do, OEJ! Your smarter than I am!

So, for me, I always check the membership list only when the new members that just joined as "newbie", you know? Just in case, make sure they're not spammers or anything like that... And also, make sure they don't add their porn sites on the profile. hee hee

Aw, OEJ!! I've thoroughly enjoyed going back and reading these posts! What a thoughtful thread and great reminder that just because Halloween's 2007 calendar date has passed, its spirit lives on within this family. In a world gone completely crazy, I'd much rather spend my spare time here at the house posting with you wonderful friends who have very much grown near and dear to my heart! I'm just glad there are people still out there like y'all to know!

Oh, hun.... you ARE apart of our family album!!! I really would have loved to post EVERYones first posts but just what I DID took so much time as it was I had to limit it to those with over 300 posts. I'm really glad that I first compiled it all in WORD, so I could come back to it.

It was really fun to do and I was kind of sad that I had to leave so many GREAT posters out. Ghostess, for example is a GREAT member but she doesn't post very much.... but MAN o'MAN, when she does!!!!!!! AWESOME (And I don't use that word very much.)!!!

I rather was hoping that it might lead others to do some exploring or their own. There are SO many little nooks and cranies on the forum that often times are VERY easily over-looked, once you get set in your ways of doing things on the board.

Now that the Mrs has become a member, I find myself looking over her shoulder and saying, "Why are you doing it THAT way?.... It would be easier if you... no, wait.... why not do it this way.... I can show you an easier way to do th..."

For example, one of the easiest things on the forum to over-look if you don't know it's there is the 'View Posts Since Last Visit' link at the top right of the first page. On the first phpbb forum site I was a member of, it literally took me MONTHS to notice that!!! Just sayin'

Click! Explore! You never know WHAT you might find! You might even find a new trick to the whole thing you were never aware of.

I've been here for one year and 8 months... Almost 2 years to go!

Anyway, when I first came in here and I joined here. There were only a few members around here... I would say about 15 to 22 members at that time when I joined here. Say about 6 to 8 months later, more and more members coming around here... I decided to advertise this forum site all around the classified ads, homepages, link back websites, etc. Now, as you can see more and more new people are coming here!!!

oh, i never noticed the 'View Posts Since Last Visit' that's very handy!
