ONCE IN A BLUE MOON

Hi Folks:

Yesterday was the most unique Halloween of our lives, because for the first time since 1944, we had ourselves a BLUE MOON. I shot some photos, and I thought you would like to take a look.

Here is an image I shot with the color taken out.

This image will makes it actually look blue, but it's a filter. Not the actual color of the moon.

Thanks for sharing those.

I haven't had the right camera kit for astrophotography in years.

I didn't have any astrological photography gear to speak of at all. I have a really nice Cannon 5D Mark 4 camera and a zoom lens which did the trick. Unfortunately I had to shoot at the lower resolution so I could post it online.

Thanks for sharing those! Around here, the moon actually had a halo around it, almost a lunar rainbow. My son, who has a new phone, got some great photos of it.

That probably won't happen again for at least another 76 years.

Well I am very glad everyone liked the photos, because that was the most fabulous, the most fun, the most spooky Halloween that never happened. What the presidential election didn't userp out from under us in2020, Covid 19 did. Still, it was a 'blue moon,' that day, it was on a Saturday, so there was no school that day or the next, and last but by no means least, it was also 'fall back' Saturday, wo we all got an extra hour of Halloween to enjoy.

We did not lose Halloween 2020 in Murfreesboro. ToTing was more subdued, but there were a number of folks about, and about half the normal # of houses decorated in our neighborhood (including ours, of course). It was a quieter Halloween during the pandemic, but not a lost one. One of our neighbors even made one of those candy shoots for the kids' treats, and she was fully costumed herself.

I am grateful I live in a Southern state, where the pandemic rules were not so draconian or painfully enforced.

We had a good turnout, compared to the previous pandemic Halloweens.

It felt a lot more traditional with the toters having been denied the two previous years.

Yes, last Halloween was fairly normal, but I have noticed that a couple of houses have never gone back to their big yard haunts. One of them was sold and is now being refurbished. The other, I think the folks just got tired of it and decided to cut back. They were older, and the man isn't looking so strong anymore.
