Happy belated Summer Solstice y'all!

Here's how we celebrate in San Diego!

I can't believe we are on the downward slope to the Autumn Equinox.

My plan was to watch the sunrise, make a short-haul 'haunted road trip,' and take some photos. Unfortunately, though the sunrise was beautiful, clouds rolled in, and it was raining 'cats & dogs' by around 8 a or so, so that put a crimp in the 'haunted road trip.' The clouds didn't go away until long after sunset, so I didn't get to see it.

I did start screening "Poltergeist, the Legacy," and so far it's been pretty good. Not a great show like "Bates Motel," but some interesting stories. At any rate, the next solar event will be the Autumnal Equinox, which is September 23rd if I'm not mistaken.

Is that a sandcastle Stonehenge? Impressive!

Was the solstice on Friday the 21rst? We had a windstorm that night. A massive tree fell in our yard, missed the house by a foot.

Yes, the Summer Solstice was on Friday the 21st of June, and I didn't see too much of it either. The sunrise was beautiful, but it clouded up about mid day and was raining by about the time the sun was supposed to set.

For some reason or another I've never had any problems watching the sun rise and sun set on the Autumnal equinox and the Winter Solstice, but for about the past 6 years or so, it's always clouded up on Spring Equinoxes and Summer solstices. Go figure. I use to go to the beach on the day of the Summer solstice a few years back. I would go to the Warren Dunes, get a hotel room and then stay from sun-up until sun-down, but my old car and my pocket book just can't abide that trip to Michigan right now. Perhaps next Summer when I have my budget dialed in and a better car I'll go.

I've spent it under the sun of the Mediteranean... Sweating in a business suit in the middle of a heat wave  (I even posted a little on this forum from there!) I was looking at the structural integrity of some of these villas in Barcelona for a commercial partner, and I wasn't thrilled to meet the highest temperatures ever recorded in the region like that! Fortunately enough, I've planned actual seaside holidays for late August..

I spent my Summerween praying to the Great Pumpkin for cooler weather.

I've been praying to The Great Pumpkin for a job to supplement my pension income.
