No kidding about the whole flying off topic thing! I was on one thread where everyone was commenting about an orb photo and somehow it went ghost spiders :)

:?

It is funny though when the threads stray off topic. Although it is interesting when looking back to see what was said to take it off topic. It's the same when having conversations face to face. Sometimes they stray off topic too. Random!

Welcome to all new haunters!

Jack, that's an interesting point about Halloween catching on in the US, but not Australia. I wonder if it has something to do with the reversed seasons down under? It would be hard for me to get into Halloween if it happened in the springtime (though I believe the German Walpurgisnacht is a springtime thing). Maybe they need to get into Walpurgisnacht down there.

Did Australia ever have a concentrated influx of Irish immigrants, the way we did during the potato famine of the 1840s? I think Halloween took root here during that time, although it took almost a hundred years to become a national holiday.

It helped a lot, too, that we had pumpkins. Pumpkins were just made for Halloween.

Yes it could be the seasons. I'm not sure if they ever had a concentrated influx of Irish immigrants.

That's true about Pumpkins. It used to be Turnips over here until they found the pumpkin growing in North America. They're so much easier to carve! :)

Welcome to the forum Undertaker, it's a great place to be! :)

Definitely is in my case. I think there were two days last week where I don't think I did anything other than play on the forum :)
