Unbreakable Halloween traditions.

One that I like is going to pick out pumpkins with my kids and carving them. I know it isn't super exciting, but it is a lot of fun!

We've tal;ked about we're doing this year.

But what traditions MUST you do every year without fail?

I get the feeling that we're akin to the monks during the dark ages. Keeping a detailed record of the knowledge base of (Halloween) mankind for future generations to benefit from.

any town that would curfew TOT-ing is highly suspect to me.

TOT cerfews are becoming very comming, though. People are afraid to let their kids TOG, a lot of kids. and a lot of elderly people are afraid to open their doors to TOTers.

In Joliet, about6 or 7 years ago, an elderly woman opened her door to a group of teenagers dressed in Halloween costumes for TOT. As soon as she opened the door, they attacked her, and took all of the cash out of her purse.

The perverts have also don a lot to ruin Trick or Treat for the little ones. Parents do not let them eat any candy until after they have inspected it. People feel very unsafe in today's world. Some towns have an all-out ban on Trick or Treat. It's sad, and it S**ks, but that's the reality of it.

I agree that a few bad apples (not from bobbing for apples of course or the Apple Macintosh) can ruin it for everyone. But it is typical of just about everything, some people can mess it up and we all have to pay. It is terrible.

Ain't that the truth SiteAdmin. And unfortunately this is happening most everywhere. I have an older sister who lives down in St. Petersberb Florida. She lives in a community that has a significant elderly population, and there have been so mani incidents of vandelism, robbery and the like associated with TOT, that they organized it where all the parents go to a parking area, and they do TOT From the trunks of cars. The kids go around to all the different cars toget candy, then they have a Halloween parade and party afterwards.

I really miss being a kid, I remember when I was 8 years old, there was a Halloween parade and I remember getting ready in the bathroom at school, I wanted to look perfect for that parade! I remember it like it was yesterday. I went to Halloween Mart a couple of days ago and found the same hair spray glitter that I used back then, the smell of it takes me back in time. I have to have a REAL Jack O' Lantern too. I haven't dressed up for the past 8 years since I have been pregnant for most of those years. Now that I'm done having kids and lost the weight, I can now be free to dress up not to mention dressing four kids up too! I'm so happy! I can't wait!

I do miss a lot of the Halloween traditions that I did when I was little. I especialy miss the pumpkin display at 111th and Central park.

I have this one VHS tape of a bunch of old-school, totally awesome Halloween cartoons/specials that my mom taped off TV back in the day. I HAVE to watch it every year! I almost thought I lost it this year, but luckily my sister found it. I would've been really upset it if went missing.

It might not be a bad idea to dub it to a DVD.

I agree.

If your computer isn't set up for a tranfer, a lot of camera stores can burn a DVD from VHS, and it's not expensive.

Or if you have a lot of tapes you can buy a VHS to DVD machine pretty cheap.

If it's a tv show, most camera stores will not make a dub because of the coppyright issues. The best thing to do is to get a VCR/DVD combo while you still can, because VHS is going the way of the dinasaur pretty fast, and they are going to be hard to find after all tv is digital. I have a really nice Magnivox that I bought at Wal_Mart about 3 months ago. It will dur vrom VHS to DVD and from DVD to VHS. All of my "Dark Shadows" episodes are on VHS, whic I am in the process of dubbing over to DVD to keep them compatable with more modern technology.

Well last night, I screaned my forst October screaning of "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and then I watched two episodes of "Dark Shadows."

My traditions

October 1st outside must be level 1 with lights lit by night.

I only hand out treats on Oct 31st,

Halloween Party the Saturday before or Saturday After the 31st dependant on when Hallow falls and the theme of the party.

And I will always dress up no matter how old I get.
