Happy 200th Birthday, Edgar Allen Poe!
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I read about Edgar Allen Poe somewhere on other forums. It's his 200th birthday yesterday.

Welcome back, OC!!!
It's been a long time since You were here... It's like 2 months and an half away from here. Hope your holidays went fine.
BTW, I read about Poe in the newspaper about a couple of months ago. And, it will air on TV, I believe the History Channel - but not so sure.

My holidays were great, thank you I figured I'd stop by. I haven't felt the Halloween bug yet, but I'll be passing through from time to time. Hope you're all well!

Your welcome, OC!
I hope your time will come to Halloween of this year, and you will have Great Spirit Days! Or, should I say All Souls Day?

What a creepy guy!
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

A new statue is going to be erected in Boston to honor the man and his bird. Someone who lives there get a good picture of it when it's done.

THanks for reminding me of Poe's birthday! Funny, I always thought Poe was a Virginian.

Is the Poe Toaster still around? Can't remember if/where I read something that said the Poe Toaster missed a toast.

"In 2010 the Poe Toaster failed to appear. Jerome*, who had witnessed every visitation from 1976 on, had no explanation, but did speculate that if the Toaster intended to end the tradition, the 2009 bicentennial would mark a logical ending point.
The 2011 anniversary saw only the appearance of four impostorsâ€â€immediately dubbed "faux Toasters"â€â€identified as such because all four walked in clear sight of waiting observers (contrary to the real Toaster's secretive nature); none gave the secret signal that only Jerome knows, a gesture the Toaster predictably made each year at the grave; and none arranged the roses in the unique pattern established by the Toaster. The faux Toasters' appearance sparked controversy: While some preferred that the tradition die a "dignified death", others urged that it be carried on, by imitators if necessary.
In 2012, once again, there was no appearance by anyone identifiable as the "original" Toaster. Jerome (who has denied rumors that he himself was the Toaster) proclaimed the tradition "over with.""

that's sad to hear, but appropriate for the subject.
