More than likely, if they have access to your computer, they'll fill a hidden directory with a bunch of similar files. Picture (.jpg), movie (avi, mpg, mp4), or archive (zip, rar) files. If you see a file that you don't know what it does simply look it up on Google. That should give you some idea if it belongs or not. If you're still not sure but want to get rid of it, move it to a temp directory instead of deleting it. That way if something screws up you can move it back.

The place where they really need to concentrate is the source of all the "kiddie porn." If it never gets posted to begin with, it can't find it's way into some one elses computer. I also have had problems with hackers hyjacking my hotmail account so I had to change my pass word. They were using my Hotmail addy to sell blahblah. But, they say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I allways shut my computer down completely when I leave the house, and I regularly delete all my Internet histories and cookies.

Contact your local county sheriff department. All these type offenders must be registered there. In addition some states are putting their s-e-x offenders online. By law they must tell you where they live and work. Do a little homework before October 31st gets here. You'll be able to find out and pass on the information to others who might not know. Not trying to scare anyone, but over the years I've dealt with more than a few dirtbag offenders, and I'd be willing to bet big money that if I showed them to you, you would have never guessed they were sexual predators. That's the scariest thing of all about them. They look just like you and me.

VenHelsing, thats the way it is with most monsters. They look totaly normal and even down right friendly until they bare their fangs. I am not a huge fan of draconian laws, but when it comes to those types of people, I some times think they should never get out of prison. In fact, I think they make a great case to bring back penal colonies.
