I think that as more people use streaming services all discs will go the way of video tape.

I find that sad, because I like owning the physical media.

That being said, I'm currently buying Archer From Amazon and loading it on my tablet

I'm one of those who are moving away from the constraints of physical media. By converting all my DVDs to my media center I no longer have to get off my behind to switch disks. I can create playlists of my favorite movies, TV shows, and music and control them using my phone or any other device close by, including my remote. I can cast the movies to any TV in the house, or my projector. I can access my library from anywhere over the internet. The artwork shows up in full glorious detail on the TV or projector. I'm even including all the audio commentary and foreign language tracks, subtitles, and DVD extras. I'm using a Raspberry Pi computer ($35) as my media server, it uses almost no electricity, way less than a cable box, though it's a bit too weak to convert video on the fly to fit the specific device you're viewing on. Just can't see leaving my big power hungry computer running all the time in case I feel like watching something. This system is very much like my own personal Netflix or Hulu streaming, as you can see below. It's very Star Trekian, and is probably the future of personal home entertainment. Though, online streaming is always going to have it's place.

This is the web interface. Looks different when accessing the library from a mobile device.

It really is weird. I can remember when we had Blockbuster video stores in every strip mall. All VHS. Then one day, they put up one row of DVDs. Two months later a quarter of the store is DVD. Two years later, the whole store is DVD.

Best Buy is doing the same thing with Blue Ray. For that matter, the Best Buy near me only has one aisle of CDs anymore.

Our mall was pretty low-rent; we had Hollywood Video.

Vinyl is having a huge renaissance.
A lot of bands release limited editions on platters.

I prefer the analog sound over the best digital.

And no Nevermore, I don't wear plaid, ride a razor or, own a fedora.

Ahhh... nothing wrong with that. Not everyone has to live in the 21st century. If you're fine tuning the cranks on the front of your horseless carriage and Victrola, more power to you. :D :D :D :alien:

Popcorn!

Good idea. I think I'm gonna go get my growler filled up with some of that peanut butter beer, pop some corn, and watch that.

I was found deep in the Arctic, frozen, and holding the Hydra weapon.
